The Heavenly gates opened on March 12, 2021 to welcome our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Affectionately known as "Nonna Rita" to many, she was a kind and nurturing woman who devoted her entire life to her family. Left to treasure those precious memories are her adoring children, Albert (Tina) Marchese, Frank (Samantha) Marchese, Paul Marchese, Lidia (Tim) Brown and Italo (Susan) Marchese. Nonna Rita leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of her precious grandchildren "Goia", Sabrina, Alessia, Nicholas, Matthew, Marcus, Jessica and Jack. Sister to Carmelina (the late Pietro Borrelli), Egidio (Vanda) Maccarrone, Maria (Carmelo) Caridi, Giaconda (Pietro) Reda, and many nieces and nephews. She is reunited with her parents Michele and Santa Maccarrone and sister Rosina. Visitation will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 from 4:30 - 9 p.m. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, there is a limit to the number of people allowed to attend the funeral home at one time. Please RSVP on the website or call the funeral home to reserve a time for Visitation. A Private Funeral Mass will be celebrated, followed by private Entombment. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to The Luso Canadian Charitible Society(www.lusoccs.org), a charity close to Rita's heart, would be sincerely appreciated by the family. www.smithsfh.com

My heart breaks for all the Marchese family at this time because their sweet mother and grandmother has made her way to heaven. We all had the honour of having her in our lives for a short time, she was such a loving caring person to all that crossed her path, a perfect mother and grandmother to all her family, as they were all the centre of her life. Our deepest condolences to all her children and grandchildren she will be forever in our hearts saying prayers for all of you.
