Gerald ZELDIN Memoriam
Photo Courtesy of Alex Albojer Artist and Philanthropist of the Human Spirit 10th ANNIVERSARY On this magnificent Spring Morning, his favourite season, May 20, 2010 in peace and at home, with the birds singing and the early morning light shining on him, with his loved ones holding and hugging him, Gerald passed on to the next part of his journey. His dream was to travel the world in springtime, starting here in springtime and travelling to places that were spring, then ending up home in springtime. His whole year would be Spring. So his dream has been fulfilled. He will be forever in Springtime. Gerry became co-ordinator in the world renowned Animation Program at Sheridan College. He was key professor of Life Drawing and was an enormously positive force in the International Art World and in the Global Animation community. His colleague said of him, 'Gerry seemed like a friend and colleague, an uncle and a brother, like a fellow wanderer and a wise old sage, all at the same time. May your spirit continue to dance like the art you created ... and the hearts you lifted.' And from our young son, now a filmmaker in the California desert, in his speech on Gerry's day of Celebration, 'He was everything I came to love.' And from my older son, an International Human Rights Lawyer, living in Switzerland, 'Gerry came into my adult life more as a friend than a father. There was an immediate bond ... that had an intensity to enter the soul.' And from our sweet young grandchildren, from Los Angeles, 'We are so sorry Zaidy Gerry passed away ... We are sending a magic wand ... we can make a wish. We love you Grandma Madeleine.' We have all witnessed the brilliance of his spirit ... and feel honoured to have known him. The earth lost an angel but heaven gained one. Your loving soul friend, forever, Madeleine I miss your wit, your passion, your love ... And missed with joyful memories by family ... Jason and Jennifer, Jonathan and Tina, Julian and Cynda and adorable Grandchildren ... Alessandra, Ethan and Ottilia "There is no breeze that cools the flame of love."
