Edward HUFFMAN Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family announces Ted's sudden passing at home at the age of 83 on Monday, December 28, 2020. Predeceased by his parents Hazel and Harry Huffman and by older brothers Keith and Ross. Survived by Ann, his wife of 39 years, children Paul (Lorraine), Jeff (Cindy) and by Dave Loucks (Sherri), Sandy Hager (Allan), and Bob Loucks (Deanna), and by grandchildren James (Charlene), Mitchell, Ben, Tyler, Bradley, Olivia and Harper. Ted's career was in education and he taught at both Burlington and Wentworth County before moving north to teach History. He had so many good memories of students and staff as Principal of Roland Michener Secondary School for 18 years in South Porcupine. During that time he also sat on the Advisory Board of the Timmins Museum-National Exhibition Centre. In 1993 Ted and Ann moved to Listowel where they enjoyed life in a grand old Victorian home, collecting antiques and discovering parts of Ontario previously unknown to them. Ted became Chairman of the Police Services Board there. Later, they moved to the Village of Brussels where he and Ann restored an 1867 limestone manse. They took part in this wonderful community by volunteering on the Agricultural Society/Fair Board where Ted was Treasurer and also a member of the Brussels Lions' Club. Finally they settled in Welland in 2006 where he served in several executive positions of the local Branch of the United Empire Loyalists' Association of Canada. In retirement Ted turned his talents to furniture-making, construction projects, sheet metal work, and was a jack-of- all- trades, solving most problems with his ingenuity and expertise. Ted will miss many things: visits with family, the changing seasons, walking the dog, and his many friends, each of whom, he believed, had enriched his life. He will miss his grandchildren and his five children whose achievements and successes gave him great pleasure and of whom he was so proud. Most of all he will miss the love of his life, his beloved wife Ann, who he treasured dearly. She provided him with a life of happiness, comfort, strength, and security. In all things and at all times she was his unswerving friend and the perfect partner who never failed to make everything possible. A celebration of Ted's life will be held at a later date.
