Passed away peacefully on Monday, May 24, 2021 at the age of 94 at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, ON. John was born in Fredericton, NB on August 13, 1926. Predeceased by his beloved wife of 54 years, Frances Catherine (nee Power). Loving father of John (Debbie), Robert and Leytha Miles (Ronald Crabbe) of Burlington and Dalyce Miles-Laurie of Oakville. Cherished grandfather of Doug (Melissa), John (Amanda), Matthew, James, Laura (Matthew), Arthur, Frances (Eric) and Catherine (Robert). Much loved great-grandfather of Brody, Aidan, Johnny, Layla, Ryan, Sophie, Jack, and Ellie. Also predeceased by his infant grandson Stephen, his brother Ralph (late Dorothy) and parents Ralph and Hazel Miles (Young). John will be fondly remembered by his extended family and friends.
John graduated from Queen's University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, 1948. A respected Canadian steel manufacturing executive, his career began at Dominion Steel & Coal Corp., Sydney, NS and culminated as President and Chief Executive Officer, Slater Steels, Hamilton Specialty Bar Division. John was also a Slater Steels Board Member. He was a member of the Professional Engineers Ontario and the Association of Iron and Steel Engineers. A 54 year parishioner of St. Raphael's Roman Catholic Church, Burlington, John was a devout man who served as both an usher and Minister of the Eucharist.
As per John's wishes cremation has taken place. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully suggests donations in memory of John to the CNIB and Diabetes Canada.

John, my sincere condolences to you and your family on the passing of your Dad. He seems to have led a wonderful long and happy life as a husband, father, grandfather and friend. God bless you and your family.
