Rita CALCAGNI Obituary
On Sunday, September 12, 2021, Heaven gained a beautiful angel. Peacefully and surrounded by her family, Rita passed away at the age of 61 after a very lengthy and courageous battle with breast cancer. Rita will be dearly missed by her devoted husband of 39 years, Goffredo (Fred), her loving children, Danielle (Lorenzo), Amanda and Mark, and cherished granddaughter, Alessia. She was a dear sister to Wilma (Romeo) and Vince (Dianne). Rita will be reunited in Heaven with her parents Gino and Nunziatina, her sister Wilma and her mother-in-law, Domenica. She will also be missed by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear friends. Rita was a loving, selfless, warm, and kind-hearted woman who always put others before herself. Despite her health struggles, she always persevered and prioritized her family's well being. Family was everything to her. She will always be remembered for her tremendous strength and bravery and will continue to be an inspiration to us all for living life to the fullest and never giving up. Although she is gone from this physical world, Rita will always be alive and present in our hearts and many cherished memories. She has touched many lives and will dearly be missed by everyone whose lives she crossed. The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses that helped her throughout her illness and Bayshore Homecare for their care in her final moments. Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home - "William J. Markey Chapel", 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Sunday, September 19, 2021, from 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM. Funeral Mass at St. Catherine of Siena Parish - Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, 416 Mohawk Rd E, Hamilton, ON L8V 2H7, on Monday, September 20, 2021 at 10 AM. Interment will be held at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery. Donations to the Juravinski Cancer Centre-Bright Run would be greatly appreciated by the family.

I have been blessed to have known Rita and although the light is now dimmed she will forever remain in our hearts and thoughts. She was a soft spoken, gentle spirit filled with limitless love for family and friends.
She faced her illness with courage and dignity and never complained of her pain and stress during her long battle . The legacy she has left the family is one to be so proud of. She will be missed more than words could ever adequately express. I send my most sincere ssynpathy, condolences and love to you all in this profound time of grief.
