On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Joseph Brant Hospital, Gary passed away at the age of 75 years. Beloved husband of Beverley (nee Skewes) for 54 years. Loving father to Melinda (Mike) Tarantino and much-loved Poppa to Zoey and Maizie. He will be sadly missed by his mother-in-law, Lillian Skewes, whom he knew and loved as a mom. He is survived by his sister Carol (Stew) Roche and brothers Rick and David, younger sisters Fern and Faye, sisters-in-law Wendy (Hugh) Stimers, Roberta (Rick) Calderbank, Karen Skewes, as well as many nieces and nephews. He loved to travel, especially to his favourite Caribbean paradise in Barbados. He was an avid hockey fan attending games with Mike Sr. to watch Mike Jr. coach and to cheer on the team. Gary - I will continue thinking about you and your ways. We knew and respected each other for a long time. RIP brother and I'll see you on the other side sometime and we'll have a smoke and a drink and a few more laughs.

Bev: We are just blown away by the loss of your beloved Gary. Gary was a huge support for me (Pat) after my mom’s passing. He did a terrific job preparing my mom’s tax return and subsequently going to bat for me with Revenue Canada. He was also great fun to bowl with. He was larger than life and will be truly missed. Our condolences to your family - Pat & Doug McGregor

I got to know Gary through the Order of St. George. I always appreciated his commitment to serve not only veterans, but also members -- past and present -- of Canadian Forces suffering from PTSD as a result of their service.

Please accept our most sincere condolences and know that in your grief, our thoughts will be with you.
