Al Adams

Alfred W. "AL" Adams

St. George

Al passed away peacefully on May 9, 2013 at home with his family. He was 78 years young.

He was born on July 12, 1934 to Powell and Helene Adams in Rockville Center, New York, but lived In Valley Stream, and graduated from Valley Stream Central High School in l953. He played cornet in the high school band.

After graduation he joined the United States Navy and became a boilerman serving on the USS Midway.

When he returned home from the service he was lucky to meet Lory and they were married on October 26, 1957. They were married for 56 years first living in Babylon, Long Island where their two daughters, Randee and Tracy were born. But, working as a carpenter in the snow and ice was very difficult. In 1964 Al moved his family to North Hollywood, California where he found work as a carpenter for over 30 years. They remained in the San Fernando Valley until Lory's retirement in 1993. They came to beautiful St. George, where Al found carpentry work with Jerry Black Construction. Jerry wasn't sure he wanted to hire a worker as "old" as Al no matter how much experience he had, so Al offered to work for free for the day so Jerry could evaluate his talents. At 4 o'clock, Jerry said "see you tomorrow Al". All that time, Al was building his own new home in Bloomington Hills. Al was delighted to live and work in such a beautiful place.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bob, and daughter Tracy and is survived by his wife, Lory; daughter, Randee and grandchildren, Laura (Alex) and Terry of Lodi, NJ; Amanda and Kelly, of Los Olivos, Calif. and Steven (Lexi) of Simi Valley, Calif. and great grandchildren Shaylee, Gemma, Phoenix and Steven.
