POIRIER, Joseph A. A. (Pete) WO (Ret) Born March 6, 1936 in Bathurst, NB, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2014 in Victoria, BC. A loving husband, Pete is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Gwen (nee Hagell); was a loving father to Michel (Nancy), Johan (Tess), Paul (Pascale), Darryl (Beth) Matthews, Rob Matthews, Paula Matthews (Michael) and a loving Poppa to grandchildren Alexandra, Danielle, Sebastian, Matthew, Nova, Jennifer, Michael, Zachary, Sam, Ezra, Jade, Dylan and Drew and great-grandsons Konrad and Ben. A master of buckshee and fixer of anything, Pete was a giant of a man, who served 26 years in the RCAF/CAF as an Aero Engine Technician with postings across Canada, Germany and France and deployments to Morocco, Biafra, Congo. He was awarded an around the world flight by DND as Sergeant of the Year. Later, he enjoyed 12 years in the BC Legislative Security as a Crew Commander. In retirement, he and Gwen travelled the world cruising; circling the globe having great adventures. He will be greatly missed. Hand in Hand thru time, Je t'aime a la folie. No service by request.
