Elizabeth Wallace Kelly

Elizabeth Wallace Kelly, age 89 died Sunday November 24, 2013 at her home in the Sterling Court Assisted living Center, St. George, Utah surrounded by loved ones. She fought a long hard battle with pulmonary lung disease.

Elizabeth was born November 8, 1924 in St. George, Utah to Charles Clifford and Sarah Ann Miles Wallace. She lived in LaVerkin, Utah until she was 11 years of age and then moved with her parents to St. George, Utah where she graduated from Woodward Jr. High and Dixie High School and Seminary. She also attended Dixie College.

Needing a job she went to work in Las Vegas Nevada as a parachute rigger where she met her husband to be, Maynard Kelly, who was serving in the Air Force and stationed at Nellis Air force Base.

Elizabeth "Beth"Wallace, age 22, and Maynard "Bud" Kelly were married in St. George, Utah at the home of Andrew O. McArthur on June 20, 1947 by Vernon Worthen.

Elizabeth was sealed by proxy to her husband Maynard Kelly in the St. George Temple October 23, 2013.

Beth and Bud lived in Las Vegas for a short time after their marriage and then moved to Pasadena, California where they remained until Bud's death. Five years after Bud's death, Beth moved to St. George, Utah to the Sterling Court Assisted Living Center, where she remained until her death.

Elizabeth worked in the business world most of her married life in the Home Savings and Loan Dept. for several different companies. She received Distinguished Service Awards for her work. She found the business world to be most fascinating making many friends and loving her work

Beth was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Sunday School and as a Visiting Teacher.

She loved to crochet making many beautiful items, but her favorite was a beautiful dress she crocheted and wore.

She and her husband Bud loved to travel. They visited many places and countries including, Spain, Russia, Japan, and Europe. She was always glad to come back to the best country in the world, America.

Because Elizabeth had no children of her own she made her nieces and nephews her children. She loved each one dearly and they loved her very much. She was a special Aunt in many of their lives.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Maynard Kelly, her parents, Charles Clifford and Sarah Ann Miles Wallace, all of her siblings, Miles Wallace, Roma Stout, Keith Wallace, Merle McArthur, Paralee Cox, and Leon Wallace. She is survived by her many beloved nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews and cousins who loved her very much.

Funeral services will be held Saturday December 7, 2013 at 1:00 pm in the 2nd & 8th Ward LDS Chapel located at 166 South Main, St. George, Utah. A viewing will be held in the Relief Society Room in the same building beginning at 12:00 noon prior to the services. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of the Spilsbury Mortuary 110 S. Bluff St. St. George, Utah (435-673-2454). As a family we wish to thank all those who helped care for her the last few months of her life, including Sterling Court Assisted Living personnel, Dixie Hospice Care, and her doctors Dr. Parkinson and
