"Dick" Ernest R. Werner

St. George, UT

Semper Fortis - The sea has finally called back its finest. Ernest Robert "Dick" Werner, our beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, has been called serve his final tour of duty.

He was born to Ernest R. and Malena Johnson Werner on May 29, 1924, in Cowley, WY. At the age of 17 Dick joined the U.S. Navy serving in WWII and The Korean War. He was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He married his eternal companion Barbara June Novaria on June 28, 1945, and was later sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Together they welcomed two daughters and four sons. They shared 72 wonderful years together. He served faithfully in the American Legion Post 90 bringing forth the first JROTC at Dixie High School as well as the Southern Utah Veterans Home. Together with his sweetheart he served 5 missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His faith and his love for the gospel were the foundation of our family. We honored him in life and we will continue to do so in death.

Dick is survived by: his wife Barbara of St. George; his children, Don (Michelle) Werner of Brookside, UT, Thomas (Elaine) Werner, Larry (Carma) Werner, Wendee Barnhardt, and Linda (Greg) Sharp, all of St. George, UT.
