Max Molyneux Obituary
Max Ellis Molyneux
Mona - Heaven has gained a son and the earth an angel. Max Ellis Molyneux ended this mortal experience unexpectedly of natural causes on April 2, 2018. He was born April 16, 1944 in Mona, Utah son of Vaughn Lee Molyneux and Geneva Esther Garrett Molyneux. He spent his whole childhood in Mona until he left to attend college at Snow College and then as an LDS missionary in the North British Mission. He returned home and attended Utah State University where he met Kathaleen Bailey (Kathy). They were married September 3, 1966 in the Manti temple and celebrated 51 years of marriage.
Max graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree. His first job after college was with the U.S. Forest Service. That career took them to live in Oregon, Colorado, and eventually Cedar City, Utah. In that time seven children joined their family: Michelle (David) Hart of Highlands Ranch, Colorado (4 children, 2 grandchildren), Heidi (Todd) Watson of Perry, Utah (4 children), Max Vaughn Molyneux (deceased), Lesli (Andy) Lefgren of Perry, Utah (5 children), Sheree (Daryl) Staheli of Payson, Utah (5½ children), Kim (Andrew) Hermann of Hurricane, Utah, Michael Ellis (Krystle) Molyneux of Layton, Utah (3½ children). After retiring, Max and Kathy retired to Perry, Utah in 2006.
Max was most at home in the outdoors. He grew up on a farm always with a dog by his side. He loved hunting deer and elk. Lately, he spent more days with a fishing rod in his hand.
Max loved having family around. The family had been building a family cabin for the last several years. He and Kathy wanted a place where everyone could gather, and they could be in the mountains together.
He had strong faith in our Savior and he passed this legacy on. After retirement Max and Kathy served an LDS mission to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He served faithfully and dependably in many callings, including bishop and most recently as an ordinance worker in the Ogden and Brigham City Temples.
He is survived by his wife Kathy and all his children except one son. He is also survived by his only sister Janice (Terry) Pritchett of Spanish Fork, 20 grandchildren with 2 on the way and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brothers Clark Lee Molyneaux and Blaine Garrett Molyneaux and one granddaughter, Kaeberlie Lefgren.
Funeral services were held April 7, 2018. He is interred in the Nephi Vine Bluff Cemetery.
