Following his retirement from the US Postal Service, they retired to St. George, Utah.

Bill loved sports, both watching and playing. He was known in his Army Softball days as the Ironman due to his ability to pitch multiple fast-pitch softball games in a single day and mowing down batter after batter. He also coached his boys in sports and was able to play softball on the same team with each of his boys at different times in his life. He continued to be an effective slow-pitch softball pitcher into his sixties. He was also a very good bowler and played in many leagues over the years. He loved to watch and play many other sports.

He is survived by his wife Lorraine; his children Judy Lynn (Al) Tunnell, Tulsa, Oklahoma; Michael (Lisa) Hukill, Diamond Valley; Kristi (John) Stoddard, West Jordan; JoDe (Paul) Bernard, Gillette, Wyoming; Mark (Darla) Hukill, West Valley City; Patti Ann Green, St. George, and his sister Opal.
