Diamond Salmons, 73, Harrodsburg, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019.
Born July 28, 1945, in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the eldest son of the late Francis Jr. Salmons and Beulah Davidson Salmons of Oneida, Kentucky.  
He graduated high school from Oneida Baptist Institute in 1963, graduated Cumberland College with a degree in elementary education, and attended Eastern Kentucky University and obtained a master's degree in special education.  He was a former Harrodsburg Elementary School teacher and assisted with the implementation of the special education program.
After leaving the field of teaching he worked as certified auto mechanic with Nissan in Tennessee and as a factory worker in Springfield.
His unprecedented love for the outdoors was definite. He was an avid hunter, archer and fisherman. He was a true outdoorsman.
His brother Frankie Salmons preceded him in death.
Survivors include Susan Bowling, former wife and caregiver of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two daughters, Angela Salmons Pierce (Bill) of Fairplay, Colorado and Stephanie Salmons Paulin (Bill) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, five grandchildren, Colten Pierce, Stephen Paulin, Brandon Paulin, Ryan Paulin and Meghan Paulin; brothers, Rudolph (Janet), Ernie (Shirley), Timothy (Sharon), Edward (Deborah) and Eric (Kathy) all of Clay County Kentucky. 
An expression of gratitude from the family to Anthony and Amy Thompson of Springfield and Will Rogers of Harrodsburg for their devoted friendship, companionship and compassion over the many years.
A memorial service will be scheduled and announced at a later date.
