Margaret Moira MUNRO

MUNRO, Margaret Moira - Moira peacefully passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 after a determined and hard fought struggle with COPD. She was born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, January 11, 1937, to Herbert Theodore (Ted) Ben-Oliel and Ethyl Margaret (nee Carson) and at an early age moved to Toronto. Her childhood days were often filled with a passion to excel in her chosen sport, figure skating, which remained a lifelong interest. Excursions to the family cottage at Kosh with family and friends also played a significant role in Moira's busy life. As a young woman she took off for Europe on her own. While in France, she met and married John (Jack) Faulds, a pilot in the RCAF and they had their first child, Suzanne. Moira was an avid reader, but it was not until later in life, after she relocated to Vancouver Island, that Moira found the real love of her life... horses... especially for her own beloved Sophie. She is survived by her second husband Rod Munro, daughter Suzanne, son Don, step-children Brent (Joy), Brenda and Terri, brothers Jim (Margitta) and John (Rosita) and sisters Wendy, Nancy (Ross) and Debra (Gary), as well as grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Moira was an extraordinary woman who has left us with many fond memories and will long be remembered as a loving mother who was willing to make any sacrifice for the betterment of her family. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no memorial service. A Celebration of her Life will be held at future dates to be arranged in Victoria and Toronto. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
