My deepest condolences to my aunt Norma, and my cousins, Barb, Jimmy, Nancy, and families. Uncle Jim was a great uncle. I didn't get to see him much after the family moved to Toronto way back when, but when they came out to visit, I really looked forward to seeing them. I was especially impressed as a youngster, knowing that he was a member of the 1948 Calgary Stampeders team which won the Grey Cup that year. He always seemed so happy to me, and he had a great laugh on him. He will be missed!

My sister Norma sure picked a winner, because Jim was the best brother-in-law a gal could ever have. He always had a smile and a chuckle. Every year, I searched and searched until I found the perfect birthday card for him, just to make him laugh out loud. (Nicce Wendy adds: she took great delight in imagining him laughing and sharing the cards with his friends.)
We (the Morrows) have great memories of getting together with Norma and Jim and the kids during our six years in Toronto.
Our trip out to visit the family this past July was the highlight of the summer, and I am thankful that we had the opportunity to spend some time together. I will always remember how much Jim enjoyed taking Norma and I on at pool; so much so, that I just had to challenge him to a re-match the next night, even if we weren't keeping score.
He will be missed very much by us all.

When I was a teenager, and my Uncle Jim and Auntie Norma were visiting from Ontario, we took a drive to the mountains. As the road climbed up through the Foothills and we could see the snowy peaks, Uncle Jim said something I will never forget. He said "When I am in the mountains, I know I am never alone." My understanding of what he meant has changed and deepened over the years, but every time I am on that road climbing towards those mountains, I think of my Uncle Jim and that brief moment of insight into his heart.
Jim Dobbin's presence made the world a better place, and even though he is gone from us, his influence will last through the generations.
My deepest sympathy to Norma, Barb, Jimmy, Nancy, Phil, Jenna, and PJ.

Our family is saddened by the passing of Uncle Jim. While he lived the last years of his life in Toronto, he was a lad of the prairies born and raised in Calgary. He was an avid athlete as a youth and (little known fact) a member of the Calgary Stampeder football team that won the 1948 Grey Cup. He had some interesting stories about the train ride back from Toronto with the Grey Cup. Jim was my favourite Uncle and we will miss him.

Dear Dobbin Family, Jim will be dearly missed. Mr. Dobbin was aways a cheerful and happy person. He was my best friend, Barb's dad. I've know him for 50 years and over that time celebrated Birthdays and Christmases with the Dobbins. He even grounded me once! You will never be forgotten Jim. xox Love, Cheryl, Rob and Richard xox
