Thank you to those who wished Dad a happy birthday. There is no doubt in my mind that he was having the time of his life up there celebrating his 52th birthday! He definitely sent some good vibes down to earth that day and touched all he cared for. He sent many laughs and smiles down to us and continues to do so on a daily basis-it's the only way anyone could get through coping with his absence. He is deeply missed. It is comforting to know that others are thinking about him to! :-)

Thinking of you on your birthday, i missed hearing from you on my birthday, you were always the first call of the day. I still look for you in the D.I. halls of Southlake where you would pop up unexpectedly with a big smile and your joke of the day.

It has taken me almost 2 months to get the courage to write to you, even though we talk everyday. Today is my 26th Birthday and you are not here with me on my special day. I know you are watching over me and will make this day extra special like you always managed to do each year. I love you and miss you everyday! Xo Today I ask more than any day that you keep me laughing and smiling...I will need your strength to get through today without you! Love your Lindsay Binsy! Xo

Happy New Year Dougie!
My 2012 New Year celebrations have little meaning without you. You were the light in my days, the happinest in my life and the love in my heart. I miss you so much but will never forget you. Yo will remain in my heart forever. My request for you for 2012 is to watch over me and keep me strong in the weeks and months to come. Send me your strength and your sense of humour to continue on the path we had started together.

I loved you then, love you now and will love you forever.

Your soulmate and best friend.

My deepest sympathy to you for the loss of a great man. I first met Doug over 10 years ago in Nuclear Medicine. I recently started a position with GE Healthcare that gave me the privilege of getting to know Doug (and his never ending knowledge of cyclotrons) even better. He surely loved his family and was able to bring a smile to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed.

Doug will be sadly missed by our GE Healthcare Dispatch team in Moncton. His sence of humor would definately shine through our phone lines and put a smile on our faces each morning. He was certainly a great man and it was a pleasure working with him dispite from a distance. My condolences to Doug's family and close friends.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of Doug. He was the type of guy that if you only met him once he still left a huge impact with his contagious personality, humour, quick wit and intelligence. He was very enthusiastic about his job and eager to pass his knowledge and passion for life on to others. Well onsite he always talked with the greatest love about his family and furry friends. He will be greatly missed.

Doug was a splash a colour in a world that is often too grey. I can't count the number of times Doug would literally have me in stitches with his incredible sense of humour. His stories about Logan, "the beast". His commitment to customer service was top notch, going well above and beyond what was required on many occasions. Doug was a keen and inquisitive learner, which no doubt played a role in him becoming the top cyclotron man in the Canadian GE organization. Heartfelt condolences to Doug's family and close friends.

As I sit here struggling to find the right words to say, my heart is filled with sorrow at the loss of such a kind, fun loving man. I am honoured to say I was one of his friends. I will never forget his quick wit or corny jokes. Fair winds my friend, until we meet again.

I met Doug in 2009, when we installed the Lawson Research GE cyclotron in London. Four or five trips to London, from the very 1st day it was mix of long days, with good laughs. Of course, we shared many dinners together, more laughs, a few pints, and more laughs. Doug was a hard worker and a pleasure to work with; he became a good friend. His one-liner he never wore out, "it's a gift" - one gone too soon. My prayers for peace and healing go out to the Flute family, and all those Doug touched.

It is with shock and great sadness that I come to realize that we have lost one of the kindest, funniest and most intelligent men I have ever had the pleasure to meet. Doug always had a good story or a joke to keep us entertained while he worked his magic on our equipment. He will be missed.
My condolences to his family.

Doug, you were one of the first people I met when I started in Nuclear Medicine. No wonder I thought it was such a fun job. Any one who could make hamsters a fall-down roll-around laughing pet is going to be missed. So long buddy, you lightened many a day, and that is an incredible gift.
My heart-felt condolences to your family. It was always obvious what a proud father, uncle, doggie-daddy you were.
Keep 'em laughing, but be careful, I hear St. Peter cheats out of the bunkers.

Any time Doug arrived at our hospital site, we knew we would be entertained, laugh a lot, see new pictures of "the brat" and learn new jokes! Doug loved to share news of his family with us. He would always ask how I was and ask about my 3 "monsters" at home. He enjoyed hearing about their escapades. Doug was a kind-hearted soul. He was an excellent and intelligent serviceman and we will miss his expertise.
He was so happy to be with you, Monique. He was very proud of his family. We all will miss him very much.
May you take comfort knowing that Doug loved you all so much and that an incredible number of people loved him and will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Words cannot express how I feel but I know for sure that I will miss Doug's smile, jokes, stories, pictures, kindness, thoughtfulness, caring attitude, joy for life and the list goes on! My thoughts and prayers are with Monique, Lindsay and your entire family. 'Go Habs Go'!

Doug was the service guy who always had a fix and made you laugh the whole time he was doing it. Which was tough, because broken down anything in Nuclear Medicine means everyone is stressed out.
He always showed off pictures and told stories about his beautiful daughter, and was constantly planning his next adventure...golfing , Hawaii, whatever.
He will be remembered not just for his humour and his magical abilities with gamma cameras, but for his sincerity and willingness to share.
We lost an amazing man. Condolences to his family.

I hold many many fond memories of Uncle Doug which will never be forgotten. My favourite memory is when he thought me - 'There's whiskey in the jar' - and to say it in the most highest pitch I could manage, just to annoy my Dad. It still makes us all laugh. My thoughts and prayers are with you Lindsay and Uncle Doug's family and friends at this time. Sarah Conway (Dublin, Ireland)

"I don't think there was anyone else on earth that can make us laugh so hard and so long than Doug. He had this incredible, unassuming and comical talent which was so unique to this gentleman, to a point where tears of laughter would trickle down your cheeks....and this is what makes it so difficult for so many of us today. They are different tears now, although still trickling, they are somewhat of different nature today. His positive energy and outlook will forever be embraced for all who knew Doug...he had such an incredible and powerful impact on so many lives. Although, knowing Doug, he would jokingly say otherwise. We will forever miss Doug immensely. Sincere condolences to Lindsay, his family and friends." Jean-Yves Maillet (Sudbury, ON)

All of us who had the pleasure of working with Doug will always cherish the laughter and kindness that he brought into our lives. Lindsay ( aka "the brat") you were beloved by your dad and his love and pride was so wonderfully obvious when he spoke of you. Monique, Doug was so lucky to have you, he seemed so blissfully happy and at peace with you at his side. God bless all of you. May he rest in peace.

Doug came fishing with me when we were both young. Well he was young; I was younger. He caught a nice walleye. I caught nothing. He laughed. The last time we spoke, this fishing story came up. We both laughed again. That story which was about twenty years old. How cool is that? Just one of many fond stories involving Doug.

My deepest sympathy to all of Doug's family and friends. Lindsay, even though we never met, I felt how proud your dad was of you every time your name was mentioned. I am so sorry for your loss. All of our nuclear medicine family will miss Doug greatly. I will always miss his smile, jokes, emails and pictures...and how he managed to always remember everyone's bday every year! He was that type of guy. He wasn't always around but he was a great presence to have in our lives. May he rest in peace.
