Douglas Binning Obituary

DOUGLAS JOHN BINNING February 12, 1930 - February 15, 2011 Died peacefully at the age of 81 on February 15, 2011. He is survived by his sister Nan Price and sisters-in-law Kay Binning and Patricia Umbach. Mentor and loving father to daughters, son and spouses Cathy and Rob Kennery, Glen Binning and Judy Darrigo. Caring grandfather to Tricia, Robin, Carlene and Alison. Devoted husband of Joan for 42 years (died March 17, 1998), predeceased by brothers Bob, Mac and Bruce. Born in Montreal on February 12, 1930, Doug was a very talented baseball and hockey player, residing in the Town of Mount Royal. A graduate of Middlebury College, Doug played hockey for the Junior Montreal Canadiens in 1950, the year they won the Memorial Cup. Doug also coached and refereed various sports throughout his young adult life and he enjoyed a long and successful career in the flooring industry, spanning 45 years. Dad, you will always be remembered as a man who loved a feisty debate about many topics, especially politics! May you finally be at peace, "Ca Marche Bien". A special thanks to the caring staff at Gilmore Lodge, where Dad resided for over 7 years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society. There will be a celebration of life in Doug's honour on April 30, 2011 at Rotary Glen Banquet Hall, 1857 Queen St. W., Brampton, Ontario.
