RANKINE, DOUGLAS JOHN Douglas John Rankine, born on April 9, 1948 in Scarborough, ON to the late Anita and the late Douglas, passed away at age 70 on June 5, 2018 in Oshawa, ON. Doug was the beloved husband and best friend of Kate. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ron and father-in-law, Peter Brouwer. Doug is survived by his daughters, Kristine (Justin Picard) and Nicole (Jake Locicero); brothers, John, Vic, and Chris; sisters-in-law Deb, Sheryl and Caryn; and brother-in-law Bill. Doug is also survived by his mother-in-law Helen Brouwer and Kate's brothers and sisters. Doug was the loving uncle to his many nieces and nephews and devoted grandfather of Cal and Reeve, whom he adored. The family invites donations in Doug's name to Feed the Need in Durham. "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!'" - Hunter S. Thompson

So sad to recently learn of Doug´s passing. I have many happy memories growing up on Muldrew Avenue, hanging out with Doug. He was a tremendous athlete and a pretty good singer as well. I had a lot of fun one summer helping out The Quiet Jungle as a roadie with Jerry and Pat Matwey. Rest In Peace Doug.

I had the honour of working with Doug on Tuesday and Wednesday for almost two years . He was one of the most amazing men I have ever met. Working at FTND will never be the same. He touched so many lives in such a good way. I have many great memories to make me smile through the tears. Sending virtual hugs to Kate and the girls.
