With great sadness I say thank you to a great man on behalf of vulnerable children around this globe. George has given so much of his energy, his personal credibility and also resources to nurture the plant SOS Children's Villages of Canada.
For all of us it is an obligation to carry on with big ambition what he had helped to grow.
Thanks to the family of George for the time you supported that George could help SOS Children's Villages.
In very fond memory, grateful and in silent prayer - may he rest in peace

George was such a wonderful man. He was a leader never afraid to go for it or share his knowledge. He always had time for people and I would not have gone into business for myself if he when we met through CIBC in 1994, he hadn't encouraged me to. I was lucky to do design work for Sigma Chi earlier on and as a result, we stay in contact for years, in fact right till the end as he was still working on an SDL history site. He had a beautiful passion for the communities he supported, and amazing love for his family. Thank you George I will be forever grateful for the lessons you have taught me.

I remember my friend George as an extraordinary man of great character, intellect, charm and kindness. He had a good sense of humour which we saw in the books he wrote and shared generously with all of us who were his friends. George and I met through the National Club where we served as Presidents. Because of this shared experience, George and I became friends. We had lunch often over the years, enjoying great conversation and swapping stories.
We just got home from overseas on Saturday and so I wasn't aware that George had passed away until Tom Bauer sent me an email a few moments ago. I am so saddened to learn we have lost our dear George.

I am so very sad to learn the world lost a gentleman and leader with Georges passing. I met him only a few years ago when I joined to lead the Toronto Public Library Foundation as George was a long time supporter of TPL. Sharp as a tack, compassionate and full of humour I learned about industry and life in my short time with him. Ill cherish those memories forever. My heart goes out to his family whom he was so devoted to.

I remember George and his awsomely brilliant close friend Barry Watson, from the Junior Common Room of Trinity College, U of T (George was no slouch either). All of us were in the 5T5 graduating year.
