URIE, Hazel S. - Of Oakville, passed away peacefully after a very short illness on August 1, 2014 at the age of 110 and 307 days. A small service will be held on Friday between 1-2 p.m. at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville, ON L6K 1E1. The family celebrates her life.

So amazing : things that happened during Hazels' lifetime : She was alive when Orville Wright flew the 1st gas powered plane at Kitty Hawk. Theodore Roosevelt was President. Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska & Hawaii were yet to be admitted to the Union. Americas' population was 80,630,000. Harley Davidson Motor Company was founded along with Ford Motor Company. First World Series. Joseph Stalin joins the Bolsheviks. Adolf Hitlers' father Alois dies. New York Stock Exchange Building opens, Bob Hope is born. John Dillinger is born. Deadliest fire in American history kills 602 at the Iroquois Theatre in Chicago. First bicycle race 'Tour de France' was held. First Teddy Bear introduced in America. North Carolina was the 1st State to require Nurses be registered. Cornerstone laid for U.S. Army War College in Washington D,C.. Niagara Falls runs out of water during a drought. 1st auto trip from San Fran to New York took 3 months. Pepsi~Cola forms. First Pulitzer Prize awarded.My Grandmother was born in 1902 and died 3 years before I was born. So my Grandmother , and my Grandfather also born in 1902 were her peers. R.I.P. Hazel S. Urie.
