John SLATTER Obituary

SLATTER, John Hutson - February 18, 1920 - October 10, 2012 It is with great sorrow that the family of John announce his death after a long illness suffered with great courage and patience. He leaves behind his daughter and son-in-law David and Beverley King, his daughter Elizabeth and his grandchildren Adrienne and Andrew King. John was predeceased by his wife Doreen (2009) after 63 years of marriage, his son Bruce (1996) and sister Mary Johnson (2011). John was born in Toronto and attended Whitney Public School and Jarvis Collegiate. Dad joined the RCAF in 1941 and undertook pilot training and was sent to the Far East with the RAF in the 136th squadron, flying spitfires. John, the son of a bank manager worked for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce until his retirement. Profound thanks go to the Staff at the Village of Humber Heights and his caregivers Shirley Blake and Joan Goldrig. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel of The Village of Humber Heights, 2245 Lawrence Avenue West, Toronto. If so desired, donations in memory of John to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
