MARCOS MARCOS Obituary

MARCOS, FATHER MARCOS August 21, 1929 - December 9, 2020 Wednesday marked the passing of Father Marcos Marcos, beloved Archpriest of St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church in Toronto. Fr. Marcos was ordained by His Holiness Pope Kyrillos VI in 1964 as the first Coptic Orthodox priest in North America. He was born in Egypt in 1929. Fr. Shortly thereafter, he was part of a small delegation that attended as guests at Vatican II Council representing the Coptic Orthodox Church. In 1964, Fr. Marcos went to Canada to establish St. Mark's Coptic Orthodox Church in Toronto, the first Coptic Orthodox Church in North America. Fr. Marcos travelled throughout Canada and the United States to serve local Coptic communities until their own churches were established. He is survived by his wife Susan and son Greg (daughter-in-law Sylvia and grandchildren Katherine and David) and his daughter Dina (son-in-law Hany and grandchildren Stephen and Mary Ellen). The funeral Liturgy service will take place on Saturday, December 12th and will be livestreamed starting at 9:00 a.m. at http://www.stmarkstoronto.ca

Fr. Marcos
Lots to say and very little means to convey what we feel and know with certainty.
He is the Adam of the Coptic Orthodox in the new world
He will be missed for generations and remembered always with love and affection .
our loss is great and Heaven retook him back as he belongs to heaven .
He Generously and Lovingly Granted and Blessed me and my Family from the Holy Sacraments
-He Granted us the Sacrament of Matrimony.
-He Granted my Children the Sacrament of Baptism.
-He Granted my Wife and Children the Sacrament of Confirmation.
-He Granted us Acceptance and Absolution of our Confessions.
-He Granted us the Sacrament of Communion.
-He Granted us the Healing Anointment .
-He Granted my Friends and People we Care About the Sacrament of Baptism, Confirmation, Confession and Communion.
The Lord sent him to us granting him the real understanding of how generous the LOVE of CHRIST really is .
While I wish I would have conveyed to him the above , I am certain he can see it now .
My Daughter the same day captured his final journey from the world by the following images , calling them
At the end of our beloved Fr. Marcos Journey Heavens opened to welcome him back .

To Susan , Dina , Greg and all His Family and His Family at large our deepest condolences
