Dear Mr. Hughes,
although I have not known personally your mother, it was quite obvious that you had to have one - and a good one, who formed you as you are.
May the good Lord reward her for every sacrifice, and for every good word and deed of her life.
May the same good Lord console you with the assurances, that from the faithful the life is not taken away, but changed for a better one. And from above she will help you and protect you even better then before.
The notice of your mother's death found me on the other side of the country, I am passing through Prince Rupert BC on my vacation. My hands are too short to hug you, Mr. HUGues, from here, but I rush with my condolences at least this way.
May the Lord bless you and your whole family, and may he strengthen your faith that you will see your mother again.

It's not possible to think about Mary and not smile at the same time. She was full of fun and in the brief time that we knew her, and in the stories that we heard, we could see that she embraced life with both arms as tightly as she could. What a role model for the rest of us!!! Here's to Mary, for a life well lived. It was a privilege to have known her.

Although I've known Mrs. Hughes many, many years, I didn't know her very well. However, I always thought she was a wonderful, caring and polite woman. I last saw her at her granddaughter Erin's weddng Aug 2009. I thought she looked great. If I should be lucky enough to reach her age, I hope I have it "all together" like her. Although it is little consolation Jimmy and Pat to you now, you were very fortunate to have mom all of these years. Put the heartache aside as soon as you can and only remember the good times.
