Sue was a long time friend from my OCA and CBC days, the kind of friend with whom words are unnecessary. She was maid of honour at my wedding, and summer holidays were spent together in Cobourg at the Cedars, her mother's summer home, which became hers. We were very close, so when my husband and I moved to Gore's Landing , to Hilltrees, we saw each other frequently while we grew older. When we sold Hilltrees and moved to Winnipeg, and Sue moved permanently to the Cedars we kept in touch by phone, and when she sold the Cedars, which broke her heart, I visited her in Cobourg. But after that her health failed, life became difficult and nothing was as it had been.

We assisted Suzanne with refurbishing the unique papier-mâché decoration in the hall and dining room, while we were living in Port Hope with our young family 1988-93. She was gracious, generous, had great stories, and was unfailingly kind. A great creative spirit we were privileged to know. Jane enjoyed many a lunch on her lovely front porch.
