THOMAS (TOM) WARDLAW Peacefully after a brief illness at Norfolk General Hospital on Thursday, December 4, 2014, of Waterford at the age of 90. Beloved husband of the late Grace (Smith). Loved father of David (and Margaret), Robin (and Rita More), Craig (and Flora Simpson) and the late Jonathan. Proud grandfather of Sarah (and Andrew Bryce), Alison, Andrew; James (and Stephanie Nakitsas), Daniel; Duncan, Leithen, Rebecca and Mackenzie and great- grandchildren Nathaniel, Aidan, Charlotte, and Theodora. Dear brother of Bob (and Jane) and the late Dr. Janet Wardlaw. In 1942 Tom attended University of Toronto, but put his education on hold to serve in World War II as a Flying Officer RCAF from 1943-1945, seconded to RAF, 1944-1945. After the war, Tom continued his education. He graduated as a C.A. and married Grace (Smith) in 1950. He completed his B.A. in 1969. Tom was an accountant in Toronto until 1965 and then a teacher at Waterford District High School where he taught until his retirement in 1983. Tom was a long serving community volunteer with the Oakville Arts and Craft Guild, Waterford Minor Hockey, Waterford Softball Association and Lynnwood Arts Centre. He was the Brantford Expositor seniors columnist for many years, a licensed lay preacher and a longtime member of Waterford United Church. Friends may call at the THOMPSON-MOTT FUNERAL HOME, Waterford, Friday, December 12, 2014, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Waterford United Church, 135 Main St. S., Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 11 a.m. Rev. John Maich presiding. Cremation and interment of ashes at a later date.
