SMITH, Winnifred Helen January 31, 1932 - March 9, 2023 "There is a season for everything, a time for every occupation under heaven. A time for tears, a time for laughter, a time for mourning, a time for dancing." Ninety one years and 37 days, we should all be so lucky to have that much time to spread joy, love and laughter. Still, our hearts ache that we don't have just one more day to share with our wonderful Mum. Lovingly referred to as: Mum, Ma, Wyn, Winnie, Grandma, Grams, Grandma DD, and by the wonderful staff at Allendale, Winnifred. People Wyn encountered often felt better, warmer and heard. Like everyone's Mum, she was irreplaceable. Born to Roy and Mildred Allen in Victoria Mills, outside Fredericton, NB, she was the loving little sister to the late Marion Nason (née Allen); big sister to brothers, Royden and the late Herb Allen. Winning a scholarship to study nursing at St Joseph's Hospital in Toronto, at the age of 17 she boarded a train for Toronto, meeting her 2nd set of sisters. Women who were our "aunties" for the rest of their lives. Returning to Fredericton working as an RN for the Micmac Nation, Kingsclear band, she was a trusted friend and advocate, driving many to doctor and hospital appointments, often braving New Brunswick winters in a used WWII Packard staff car. In 1954, she married disc jockey, Gene Smith (know to many as Gene Kirby) and soon started a family, raising James (Sharon), Christopher (Lindsay), Kelly (Larry), Nicole (Mark), Regan (Rachelle) and Jason (Erin). In male dominated '70s Mississauga real estate business, Wyn started a forty year career in management and sales at Royal LePage, ensuring her family prospered, and retiring at a very young 80! Retirement allowed her some travel, but her great love and passion were always family, who were with her at the end. Always there for her 6 kids; her grandkids, Michael (Carolyn) and Mia; Aaron (Colleen) and Bryan (Katelyn) and their mom, Sonya; Kevin, Alyssa, and Michelle; Samantha, Jacob and Danielle; Genevieve (Nic); Royden and Bridgette; and great-grandkids, Everette, Zoey, Elias, Rohn, Archer, Maggie, Vivi, Lily. A Funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 18th at Holy Rosary Church, 139 Martin Street. Milton. ON. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to support Allendale's work at the Willow Foundation https://willowforseniors.ca. Hold tight those who are closest to you, as life's moments pass too quickly. Perhaps, give flowers to someone you love, in Wyn's remembrance.

I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs Smith over 25 years ago when Jason asked me to help them move, I was greeting with her famous smile and kindness. Many moves later, the smile and kindness never changed. She'll be missed

Mrs. Smith was a special woman who had the brightest of smiles. She was a career woman and a loving mom, grandma and great grandma. May she rest easy and reunite with her family and friends in heaven. She will be missed, but her smile and spirit lives on.

I sold a one house and bought another with Wyn.
But mostly I recall that Wyn organized and ran a large household in the 1970s of 6 kids, a husband who worked long hours and a small black poodle, Pierre. Pierre would bite unexpectedly then Wyn would mention his sensitive ears. It was fair warning not to touch anything else in the house!
