I blinked and it´s 14 years later.
You hopefully are resting in peace with loved ones both literally and figuratively. Here and there. Your beloved automobiles also reside in different places. The constant that remains is our home at Avenue Rd. I´ve maintained it since your physical departure but your spirit remains. To this day. Oh the stories. Daddy you really have had some fun.
May 11, 2010, before exiting, I picked up a golf shirt from your laundry hamper. I returned to my home to place it into a ziploc bag. It´s stained with not your Sunday sugo sauce, but with my tears. Periodically I open it to smell your Juup cologne and I close my eyes to see that indelible smile tattooed into my memory. To hear your 5yr old boy giggle, like you´ve just pulled one over on someone yet again. To end each phone call with "I love you lisa". To see you holding my son´s tiny 8 month old legs still, teaching him to crawl on the floor. To hear you whisper "hello precious", when you cradle my daughter. And millions of other memories. The ones I want I know will never come to fruition. Of you teaching my grandson to skate. Of attending dance recitals for your great granddaughters. Of playing a round with my son and I.
Taking a page from your Italian playbook I relocate to Puglia. We´ve come full circle Daddy. The place your ancestors flee from for a better life, a life you came to long for back in "the old country", now home to me.
I came across something in your belongings while cleaning the apartment. A Fathers Day card I made you at about 5 or 6. Although it´s Mothers Day, it feels quite appropo. To think you had kept this coffee stained, mispelled, crayon drawing answers all the questions I ever had about who Vic Tomasicchio ever was. Pure Love. Miss you big guy. Leave the night on.

Uncle Vicky,
That's the name I knew you by, but to me you were so much more than a cool uncle. You were the coolest guy in the city. I remember sitting at Remys in Yorkville with you and my dad. Your Personality was Larger than Life, as different people would come and say hello. One time, this fellow came and said hi. After he left you asked me if I knew who that was. I said 'No'. He said that's 'Snow' the rapper.
I was like, how cool is that, my uncle is respected by the famous younger generations.
I believe you are looking down at your family and are very proud. You were not just a good man, you were an Amazing Person with Big Heart, and how you raised your son Vito is a testament to that.
Always your Nephew,
With love, Victor

In Loving Memory.....Ya Vic
I can close my eyes and remember the exact location and time when I got the phone call that would change our families lives forever. In my heart, I know you are watching down from heaven, looking after Uncle Joey, mom, your kids, grandkids, and great grandkids.
"There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messagers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love."
After 10 years, not a single day goes by that I don't think of you. Life isn't the same without you and I wish you were here so I could tell you how much I love you!

VIC "DAD" TOMASICCHIO

I remember sitting in your car, spring 2011 just before you passed. I had a special remix of "The Love I Lost" by Dimitri from Paris. Not knowing it would be one of the last times we shared. We played the song on repeat, smiling and singing along. Now I look back 10 years and it truly feels like a different life. I'm forever grateful for the life lessons I learned along the way with you. What I would do for a foursome at The National with the boys and You. Words can't explain. The good thing is there is a part of you in all of us, forever the "Ya Vic" gene will be embraced and shared. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say " I miss you.” We honour you with the songs from Harold Melvin and the Blue notes mentioned in this. Your forever in our minds and hearts.

Love always

Vic (Dad) Tomasicchio

I remember this day as a defining chapter at such a young age. The Run for Rom, mixed ages. It was the final stretch and I was exhausted, you saw me and jumped on the street to run the last couple mins with me to the finish line. I looked for this picture for 9 years and didn't give up, you were by my side than and still today. 2020 has been tough for many but I know when I look over to my right I can smile. Thanks for teaching me not to give up Champ.

I can still hear the change in your pocket, Flip a coin for either Marvin/Tammi or Diana.

Ain't No Mountain High Enough

If you need , call me

No matter where you are

No matter how far

Just call my name

I'll be there in a hurry

On that you can depend and never worry

Vic " Dad " Tomasicchio

I remember standing with you on so many occasions, places and
travels. Things you taught me, showed me and helped me experience. A
parent is a protector and guide along the way. You would say "you're
going to miss me when I'm gone." I'd laugh it off but now it's
come true. This year I tried to turn the worse day of my life into a better
one by planning a joyous occasion on the same day. I'll celebrate your life today.
I'll leave you with this song till next year by Lou Rawls
and don't think I forgot how you sung this in the car using a deep voice.
"Let me tell you that you're gonna miss my lovin'
Yes you will, baby (you're gonna miss my lovin')
When I'm long gone
I know, I know, I know that you are gonna miss"

LOVE YA BUDDY

If I had a nickel for every time I have thought about you in the last 7 years, I would be a very rich person in terms of money. However, I still consider myself a wealthy person because I had you in my life. You have taught me many things ... too many to list, but I am grateful for everything and each day try not to take anything for granted.
"What will matter is not how many people you know but how many will feel a lasting loss when you're gone. What will matter is not your memories but the memories of those who loved you. What will matter is how long you will be remembered, by whom, and for what". (Michael Josephson)
You were a good friend to all, but a great father to us.
I miss you!

Vic (Dad) Tomasicchio

I remember our last conversation vividly and play it out in my head from time to time, if I only knew that was it. In the past we talked had about death and you said if I ever go I want it to be in my sleep so I don't suffer. Its been 7 years now and Ive witnessed many passings. I'm happy you got your wish. When you love somebody you never want them to suffer but for selfish reasons I wish you suffered just a couple days cause I have so much to say.
Missing you is still easy, till next year I leave you with this song by the Spinners called I'll be around.
" Whenever you call me, I'll be there
Whenever you want me , I'll be there
Whenever you need me, I'll be there
I'll be around " ( that was you Daddy)

Love always

I miss you buddy everyday, 2190 days to be exact. Through good times and bad times I wish I had you here to share. I'm really enjoying being a Dad myself and I wish you could see them grow. I close my eyes and think back how the roles were reversed and you showed me all my firsts. I remember us driving and you asked me, whose your best friend? I replied by naming all my Thornhill friends. Your response was "No silly. I'm your best friend! " You were a great Dad and a best friend. Till next year champ and I leave you with this song for now " That's what friends are for" by Dionne Warwick.

I can't believe 5 years has passed yet it feels like just yesterday we talked. So much has happened in this time but I'm sure you have seen from a far. Coming to this date it feels like I'm in high school again waiting to write some exam. You know it's coming, you get prepared, so many unknowns of how the day will go and here it is. You deal with everything the anniversary brings and then wait until the next. It's still nice to have people come and tell me a Vic story. You were a big personality and missed by all. The kids send balloons up to heaven with messages and Vicent asks "how long is he going to stay up there and when can I see him?" I answer that a lady named Diana Ross once sang " Someday we'll be together"

Hey Champ,
So as 3 years pass us by it falls on Mothers Day. I guess its fitting that as I celebrate our Mom, I too celebrate your life today. I went over and over in my head the day of events on May 11 2011 as Life that day stopped and never was the same. I close my eyes and have so many memories and experiences together and smile. I say "Thanks" for making me the person I am with Mom and touching so many on your stay. Today I took the the "YAVIC" out for a ride. Shotgun was Ines, Vicent and soon to be son along with your ashes. They say that you can have it all but if you don't have someone along for the ride it could get lonely and you taught me that a man is not a man unless he spends time with his family. Played the music loud, roof was down and the sun was shining. I than drove to the National with Charlie, spun around in the parking lot and waved at your second home to say Hi. It was a VIC day! I know you said numerous times how you missed your Mom and now know how you felt. Your always in my thoughts Dad, Until next year I sing.." Heaven, must be missing an Angel"

Everyone says it gets easier - I guess they never had a dad like you.
Two years have passed, and still not a day has gone by that I wish I could talk to you, see you or hear your voice.
The girls are getting older, but I make sure to tell them stories so they won't forget you.
If you are in heaven and reading the star newspaper - I know you would be reading the hockey playoffs and obituaries - just know that wherever I go, whatever I do, memories of you are always with me.

Missing you is easy, my words expressed would fill a card
Moving forward is difficult and not crying every day is hard
I think back in my head to our last conversations
Experiences, sports together and travels to different nations
Like most times before, you always paved the path ahead
I wish to be the person, Father and mentor you so easily led
Hoping you found all the others that passed before you
As one day we will all be "together again" whole and true
Not having you around makes me sometimes feel weak
Just a hug, handshake, call or kiss on the cheek
Hitting repeat on old voice messages and shedding a tear
I say bye for now, I love you Daddy...until I write again next year
Love always

Dear Vito, Ines and Family, I just learned of Vito seniors passing today and am sorry for your families great loss. I always enjoyed my conversations with him at KiWe, he was so kind and vibrant. He was generous in spirit and had a genuine spark. He always managed to put to big smile on my face, light up the room and I always wondered how he had such a fabulous tan and glow. He chalked it up to all that time on the golf course. His adoration for his family was something I always admired! I am sending love from Australia and thinking of you and your family...Camille

A month ago today the world lost a fun, motown loving, change giggling, pin stripe wearing, old school dancing machine. A man who knew exactly what to say to get me riled up. A man who also knew how to be a great grandfather. He taught me that "if we ignore our teeth they will go away". A man who also knew how to tell a joke without flinching. A month ago we lost the head of our family. A month ago we all gained a guardian angel. I gained safety in knowing someone will always be watching my Mom and Dad from above. See ya later Don Vito.

The dances at Gord's Rock and St Francis brought out his dancing shoes like no other. He had his own style. To the Tomasicchio & Lacalamita Families

I was saddended to read of the passing of Vito on Wednesday. For many years, my family, the "Christoff's," were next door neighbours to the Lacalamita family at Wasaga Beach. Their grandson, Vicki, was my childhood playmate during the summer holidays and my fondest memories of being at the cottage were with Vicki, his brother Joe, mother Frances and all the wonderful Lacalamita uncles. Vicki was "one of a kind" - funny, inquisitive, and, of course, naughty. Many, many years later, my husband and I bumped into him at a neighbourhood downtown restaurant and he had evolved into the same humourous interesting individual he was as a child. But now, as an adult, he was eager to share the love and pride he had for his family. In reading the tributes, I can readily see that he meant a lot to so many people. I am sincerely sorry for your loss. I know that you will have many treasured memories of a dear husband, father, grandfather, brother and nephew to cherish in the following years. Vic is a true character that always made me laugh and smile; somebody you could tell stories about that would make everybody feel good about knowing him, and make those who didn't wish they did. He will always be my favourite coach.
