You sat next to me in the orchestra when we were kids. We played the flute together and we gossiped and shared jokes and kept getting in trouble for our idle chatter. I hung out with you from 2007-2009 when I came to do dissertation research and you took me all over the place in your comedy circuit, killing sometimes and bombing sometimes, but always approaching each set with humility and grace. You were a beautiful person and I truly cannot believe you are no longer with us. I love and miss you Makesi.

As a friend of ours tagged me in her post, I found that I was profoundly saddened by the news. Although we didn't talk much, its always sad when you lose a friend. I had no idea...May your soul find peace beyond the rainbow.

I'm an ex primary school mate of Makesi. He and I were in the same primary school class from Std. 3 to 5. It was a complete shock to me to find out today that he's passed on and also that he's passed on since Sept 12th 2011 and I had no idea. From the articles and blog posts that I've been reading that have been done for him it sounds like he hadn't changed. He was still the same calm collected, kind, smart, funny guy that he was back in primary school. Makesi your light was extinguished too soon, but the years that you did spend here on this earth brought a light to all that you encountered. May you rest in peace and smile down on us from that comedy club on high.

Makesi - I never knew you but learning about your death just yesterday - more than 2 months after the fact - saddens me tremendouly. I know your mom (Marva) and I can't tell you how sad I am for her sake. As the mother of an adult son myself, I can't even begin to understand how she is coping.
I pray that you rest in peace.

Makesi,
You were a rare breed. Your perspective was inspiring and your positivity was infectious. Only the good die young, I can only hope your spirit lives on with whom you touched... inspiring us to stop and take stock of our lives and blessings. Thank you for entertaining me and bless you for moving us to be better people.
We only ever had happy moments together and I will remember you with a smile. It was an honor sharing the stage with you, sir.

When you are going, going, going and don';t seem to have time for anything, there is always something that happens that sort of brings you back into perspective.
Rest in Peace Makesi..........Jennie (San Fernando, Trinidad)

Makesi like the late Sam Kinnison their flames shone twice as bright but unfortunately only for half as long. I just know that right now he is entertaining the big guy upstairs and getting a ton of laughs. Rest easy my friend

It's rear in my experience to come across a friend who always points in the right direction, believes in the ones he encountered and aspired us to be our better selves strictly by his own example. Never preaching, just being the example. I'm inspired :) see you again some day

I have known Makesi from before our days at Humber. I knew him from the comedy circuit and when he arrived in my classroom ... I had no idea how brilliant , kind and almost otherworldly he was. His thoughts were different- he was respectful and always the quickest to laugh and share his joy with others. We all grew to love his insight and delivery of all things mystical. I regarded his intelligence and his his sly grin as a beacon for my teaching and eventually our friendship. He became my teacher. By the end of the year and to this day I have had the pleasure to call Makesi my friend and confidante. And he will be missed.

I am shocked of the news of Makesi's untimely passing Having lost a son myself almost 6 years ago who was one year younger then Makesi I know too well how the family and parents are feeling at this time. My deepest feelings and and understanding goes out to Makesi's parents and any siblings and extended family that he has. I wish I could do more to bring comfort but corny as it sounds time does help. <3 Miriam

Our deepest sympathy to Makesi's family. We have many good memories of Makesi, but one especially stands out. When Bob was very ill last winter, Makesi came to visit with an enormous basket of fruit shaped as flowers. We hadn't seen him in a while. He spent time with Bob and lifted his spirits. We were moved by Makesi's kindness, especially Bob. We shall never forget you, Makesi.
Our condolences again to his family.

I will always remember the sound of his laughter, the only one laughing in the room, and far louder than anyone thought appropriate. It's the sweetest sound I'll ever hear, and it pains me to know I will never hear it again. Thank you for being a stand up guy.

You will be missed enormously and more than words can offer. Although I will forever regret the missed opportunities of knowing you better, I will cherish the times I was able to appreciate your company. May you rest in peace and remain the shining light you were to so many lives you touched in the short time we all knew you.
