ANNA-LIISA JALAVA Obituary

ANNA-LIISA JALAVA (HARKONEN) With sadness we say goodbye to Anna-Liisa Jalava (Harkonen) who passed away peacefully on July 23, 2012 at North York General Hospital at the age of 82. Anna-Liisa was born in Helsinki, Finland in 1929. Loving wife of (late) Erkki, mother of Hannele, Jarmo, Karita and Marko and grandmother of Shaela and Noah. Anna-Liisa was a beautiful, kind and gentle person and added humour to her life especially when she was surrounded by her family and extended family. She will sadly be missed by the people closest to her. The family would like to thank Suomi-Koti Nursing Home staff for all of their kindness when caring for Anna-Liisa these past few years. Anna-Liisa's family will receive friends at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery (at 11 a.m.) or at a Celebration of Anna-Liisa's Life at Suomi-Koti Nursing Home (at 2:30 p.m.), both in Toronto on Monday, July 30, 2012. The family suggests memorial contributions to be sent to Suomi-Koti Nursing Home in Toronto.

I have wondered my whole life who the painting was by, it was simply signed Anna. I posted a photo of it to a Friends who love Vintage Toronto Facebook group and they had her art identified in 20 minutes. I want her family to know.. the painting my father bought on Bay Street from a young girl selling her paintings back in the 1950´s, has graced our walls through the decades and been enjoyed by three generations

Surunvalittelumme Anna-Liisa Jalavan poismenon johdosta.
Anna-Liisa oli Calgaryssa aktiivisesti mukana suomalaisen klubin toiminnoissa. Hänen kokemuksensa, tietonsa ja taiteelliset kykynsä olivat suuresti arvostettuja.
