RALPH GILBERT Obituary

RALPH KENNEDY GILBERT September 1924 - October 2012 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ralph Gilbert. He passed away peacefully on October 20, 2012 at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga in his 88th year. Ralph was a loving, devoted husband of 65 years to Elizabeth Gilbert (Betty Preston). He was a very proud father to: Debbie (Kent), Glen (Elizabeth), Brent (Vicki) and loving grandfather to Matthew, Laura (Mario) Cole, Clare, Tyler and Bailey. He was a great- grandfather to Tyenna and Lauralie (Laura). Ralph is remembered fondly by his brother Art of Victoria, BC who loved to challenge him to a round of golf whenever they got together. At the tender age of 19, Ralph served as an RCAF Sergeant in World War II as a mid upper gunner in Squadron 420, Snowy Owl. This experience no doubt molded a young farm boy from Alliston into the man he would become. He went on to become a successful Canadian Tire dealer of 14 years. He started with two stores in Sydney, NS and in four years was moved to run a much larger store in Mississauga, ON. Upon retirement, Ralph and Betty enjoyed many years of travel around the world; first by Airstream trailer, then a Florida retirement home and later, many timeshare adventures. Ralph's spirit will live on in those people he has touched. He was a fine gentleman and will be missed by all. Memorial service will be held at Clarkson Rd. Presbyterian Church, 1338 Clarkson Rd. N., October 30th at 11:00 a.m. Website for directions: http://clarksonpc.org/ contact_us/map.html In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Parkinson Society Central and Northern Ontario. http://www.cno.parkinson.ca/ Online condolences can be made at: www.aftercare.org/obituaries

I will miss my investment conversations with Ralph. He used to call me up often on a Friday afternoon to talk about a couple of stocks and we also had some great lunches together near the house. He always had a keen mind and interest in investing and it was a pleasure to chat with Ralph. My condolences to Ralph's family and friends.
