RICHARD N. PATINA We would like to celebrate the life of Richard N. Patina, born 1951, who passed away on April 14, 2013, Sunday, the final day of The Masters, after a strong two year battle with brain cancer. Retired CEO of Lombard General Insurance Company (now Northbridge), Richard was involved in numerous organizations including the SHAW Festival Theatre, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, DAREarts Foundation for Children, Reach for the Rainbow, St. Michael's Hospital, and Sick Kids Hospital. A life cut too short, Richard was a firm believer in donating his time and resources to help others, and positively influenced the lives of family, friends and his many colleagues, both personally and professionally. Always one for adventure, Richard loved to travel, and was fortunate to explore many parts of the world with his wife, Judy. He enjoyed spending time on the golf course, particularly in Palm Springs and with a cigar in hand. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judy, daughter Melanie (Steve), son Derek (Katie), sister Helen (David), grandson Fraser, as well as his many loved cousins, nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, and other family members. He will be deeply missed by his many close friends, colleagues and business associates. According to his wishes, Richard will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, April 23rd, at the Credit Valley Golf and Country Club, 2500 Old Carriage Road, Mississauga, Ontario, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. with words being spoken at 4:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
