Throughout my years of working with David while at Canadian Surety, I remember him as one of the most decent, principled individuals I ever met. He created an atmosphere of harmony and cooperation within his region that was unmatched. I have a beautiful Ripley original in my living room, my most treasured art work. I have one story to add although I have many more. There was a time when head office was relocating. A number of Ripley originals had been tossed into a store room with a lot of stuff that was likely going to be discarded. I asked the president Jack Robertson if I might purchase a few as I learned they were not going to the new premises. But as soon as I showed an interest, they were suddenly seen in a new light and locked away. The company then brought in an appraiser for an evaluation. I was never able to buy any of these but I still have the one I was gifted from the Ontario Region. If his family is interested, I could forward a picture of it.
