Obituary

LESLIE GEORGE BROOKS Passed away at Sheridan Villa, Mississauga on Friday evening, May 3, 2013. He was in his 98th year and died peacefully, with his daughter at his side. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mollie, in 1993. Daughter Jan and her husband, Bill Zwarick, will miss him immensely. Les was a true British gentleman and a very private man. He was also an engineer; member of the Canadian Aeronautical Institute; long-distance cyclist; marshal at Mosport during its infancy; fabulous drummer; amateur poet and artist. England was 'home' to him, but he enjoyed many decades of living and working in Canada. The happiest of these were in the village of Thistletown during the 1950's where life-long friendships were forged with men and women who, like Les, worked at A.V.Roe/Orenda Engines. Cremation has taken place. Les' ashes will be scattered into the sea at Hartland Point, North Devon where Les and Jan scattered Mollie's ashes 20 years ago. The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Sheridan Villa for their caring and loving attention to Les over the last three years.
