To the Jannetta Family.
This is just a small story but a wonderful memory.
When I was just a young girl my parents took my brother and I for dinner at the Imperial Room. It was an adventure for a small child.
Very confused with the menu and the linens on the table I was basically in awe of the whole situation. When the waiter came to the table to take our order I asked for pancakes. Much to my parents shock they tried to have me change my request. The waiter spoke with Mr Jannetta and not only did he say "of course" he brought the pancakes to the table personally !
Its a happy memory, one I have repeated many times.
He was a gentle giant of a man to a small girl having a fancy downtown experience.
We returned to the Imperial Room many times. To see Tony Bennett and Sonny and Cher. But I will never forget my first experience.
Virginia Berrill.

A grand man of his time who transcended 3 generations of fun with all. He will always be remembered as a person who adapted to change while still keeping class and tradition at the fore front. I cherished playing in your hockey league and hanging with you at various functions.Hope you and Big Al hook up real soon in the big sky! Love ya and already miss ya!

Louis Janetta in his position at the Royal York Hotel greeted everyone with warmth, joy, and respect. This was not only for music industry individuals or recording artists it was the same respect for all.

It could be said that it really was Louis who was the "Royal" in the Royal York Hotel.

Fran and I experienced his joyous persoanlity whenever we saw him. Lou's passing is a great loss for the family who loved him.

A loss for Canada as well.

With much love to the Jannetta family.

Mr. King Louis Janetta
We met 27 years ago, I was only 13 in the hospitality industry and you gave me my first $100 bill tip and words of great wisdom. I've carried those words with me till this day, those words of wisdom were better than the tip. Today on your behalf I tip the Canadian Cancer Society.

Sincerely,
Domenic Bianchi

Dear Patti, Dave, Frank & Family:
A very sad Day for all of Louis' Loved Ones and Friends.
But truly a Life well lived.
We shall all carry the memories in our hearts, until our individual day comes to join him, your Mom, and all those touched by him who have gone before.
From the first meeting in 1976, and for the next 37 years, including just two months ago in 2013, there was never an exchange between two friends that did not contain a celebration of current Life.
Wow, will he be missed.
R.I.P. My Friend.
Sincerely,
Bruce McIntosh

Dear Patti, Dave and family,
I was lucky to meet Lou Jannetta in his home in Etobicoke as a friend and band-mate of Patti during high school days. The Jannettas always seemed to glad to let us play our music into the wee hours - and of course, Patti would go on to star as a singer.
I saw Lou at work in the Royal York only once, the night I took my parents to see the Four Freshmen in the Imperial Room for their wedding anniversary. As all these accounts will attest, Lou was gracious in helping us get a great table and make my parents feel extra special. We were truly welcome - as welcome as I was in the Jannetta's home.
Lou Jannetta leaves a unique legacy for his family, friends and the history of Toronto. He'll be missed.

"Uncle Louis". My fondest memories of you are when, as a young girl, I looked forward to accompanying my father Joe to the George Bell Arena for CIHL games. Running around the arena I felt like I could do anything there, as though I had the run of the place and no one could say anything to me because I had 'Uncle Louis'. I will also never forget how I felt like family when you would have us up to your cottage. You always made me feel so welcome and of course, thats what you did for so many people no matter where you were. My heart goes out to your family.

Frank I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your father. I only met him once when I was taking my mom to the Imperial room for her 60th birthday to see Ella Fitzgerald. Even though I had a reservation for dinner and the show I told your father it was my mom's 60th and that I went to BCI and played football with you. Hey, come on it was my mom's birthday after all…. Anyway he gave us a great table… just in front of Dick Smyth and bunch of other notables. It was far better than my ticket would have normally allowed. It was a night my mother never forgot. Twenty-five years later and I still remember how happy my mother was that night in part due to your father.

My deepest sympathy to the Jannetta family for their loss.
Lou was a amazing man and a great friend to me and my family. I have many wonderful memories of meeting Lou as a boy at the Imperial Room with my parents, then later in life on my own visiting him at the Royal York and always being welcomed with open arms. Lou was a gentleman's gentlemen, a man of class and style. With a larger than life personality which filled any room he entered.
My fondest memories are more recent, sitting playing cards and smoking fine cigars at my home and listening to him tell story after story. Lou was always so kind and generous to those around him.
The world has lost a great man, a real class act, Heaven now has the best Maître d.
Will miss you my friend… Save me a table in the front row
