Paul KARAKATSANIS Obituary

KARAKATSANIS, Paul - We are heart-broken to announce the passing of Paul on Sunday February 16, 2014 at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto after a courageous battle with cancer. Paul was the devoted husband of Eva (née Maginas) for over 58 years and the loving father of George (Valerie), Stephen (Theresa) and Helen (Mike). Affectionately known as "Pappou", he will be missed by his adoring grandchildren Alexander, Andrew, Ariana, Adam, Nicholas, Leo and Paul. Paul is predeceased by his parents Nicholas and Andromache and his siblings Stelio, George, Alexander, Kosta, Dimitri, Marika and Petro and is survived by his brother Emmanuel. Paul was born in Greece and served his country as an Officer in the Greek Army before immigrating to Canada. A proud Greek-Canadian since 1954, he devoted his life to his family and friends and was hard working in every aspect of his being. His greatest gift to others was his generous and selfless heart. Honoured last fall at the Toronto Real Estate Board Dinner with 50 Years of Service, he had built his professional relationships around honesty, integrity, dedication and trust. Our gratitude goes out to the medical staff at Princess Margaret Hospital and Toronto General Hospital and the ICU staff at Sunnybrook Hospital for their care during his difficult journey. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, February 21st at Highland Funeral Home & Cremation Centre at 3280 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto from 3:00- 5:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church at 3125 Bayview Avenue, North York at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Father Haridimos Sarris officiating followed by Interment at York Cemetery on 101 Senlac Road, North York. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Princess Margaret Hospital or a charity of your choice, in Paul's memory. Online condolences can be expressed at www.highlandfuneralhome.ca

A valued friend and a neighbour from the good old days. A true gentlemen, a kind, well respected, compassionate and forgiving soul who was always there to help and give sound advice. Most of all a devoted and loving husband, father and Papou. Your family is blessed to have enjoyed so many good years of guidance and unconditional love. Rest in peace dear Paul. You certainly left a legacy and many memories of good times and laughs. You will be greatly missed. Sincere condolences to all.
