Constance West CULLEN

(nee ADAMS)

December 9, 2015

Connie Cullen (nee Adams), lifelong resident of Agincourt, Scarborough and Whitby, quietly passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015, surrounded by love: a token of the warmth, nurturing and affection that she gave to family and friends through her fruitful life.

Predeceased by her husband Leonard (1925 - 2006), Connie leaves a legacy in her children Sue (Bryan Green), Peter (Gwen), Mark (Mary), Nora (Randy Park) and Tom (Janet). She will be missed by her 11 grandchildren Joy, Sean, Trevor, Bobby, Lynn, Heather, John, Emma, Ben, Markie and Nora and nine great-grandchildren.

Connie immersed herself in life in all activities at Agincourt Baptist Church, her weekly bowling league, Mission Circle, Girls Club, Weall and Cullen, Connie's Antiques at Cullen Country Barns, Cullen Gardens and Miniature Village and above all her family.

Mom was a wonderful and caring partner to husband Len but was not without a strong and enthusiastic independent streak. She was a passionate supporter of Diefenbaker, Canada and all things connected to the Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec.

Mom had a way of lighting any room, thrived on meeting new people and learning as much as she could about them. She especially loved to welcome new Canadians.

She will be missed for her loving ways and for sharing the particular gift of creating a family home that welcomed others from all walks of life.

Connie requested that donations made in her honour be made to Camp Kwasind (www.kwasind.com) or Matthew House (www.matthewhouse.ca).

The family wishes to thank the staff of Shepherd Village, Alzheimer's wing and especially to her daily caregiver for the past 9 years, Lise Woodley.

A memorial service will take place at Shepherd Village, 3758 Sheppard Avenue East, Toronto, on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Guests are invited to stay for a light lunch and a time of reflection on Connie's life.

We send you our deepest condolences and sympathy at this very sad time. Rob and I just heard yesterday from Dr. Bill Sturgess of Connie's passing. We know the Cullen family through our Baptist connections in Belleville, Ontario and have met Connie and Len at different functions over the past years related to CBOQ. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mark, Dave and I send our sympathies to you on the recent loss of your mother. Mark it's hard to put into words how we feel about our parents, but we know that as we ourselves get older, we begin to realize just how much we had...through what we stand to lose. Our thoughts and hugs go to you now, and our prayer is that your many many wonderful memories will fill you and sustain you at this time, and in the weeks to come.
