CAROL ANN GOLENCH Carol passed away peacefully after a brave struggle with cancer at Mount Sinai Hospital in her 70th year on March 18, 2017. Beloved wife of Jon Bridgman and loving daughter of the late Veina and Lloyd Golench of Toronto. Carol will be greatly missed by her many friends and relatives. Carol was a graduate of the University of Toronto, attaining three degrees and a Doctorate (PhD) in Theory and Policy Studies. She was a past President of the OISE (Ontario Institute for Studies of Education) Alumni Association. As a recipient of an Arbor Award, Dr. Golench proudly served on the College of Electors and as a co-opted member of the University of Toronto's Governing Council. Carol enjoyed attending Université d'Aix-Marseille, France and spoke four languages and embraced her Finnish heritage. Following a distinguished career in education as a Principal of international languages program, she subsequently pursued her interest in politics as a member of the Ontario Liberal Party, which later led her to be elected to the position of Vice-President Policy. As a member of the Toronto Earlscourt Rotary Club, she was introduced to the microfinance movement and was subsequently appointed President of the Toronto International Microfinance Summit, a forum to raise the public profile of microfinance in Canada and internationally. Carol was extremely hard working and had varied interests particularly in fashion and design. A memorial service is planned in early May for her many friends and colleagues. Her interment will be at a later date at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In Carol's memory, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society and Covenant House would be greatly appreciated.

Too early, too fast...dear Carol! I never knew about this fight...you did it with so much dignity! I will always remember you as the model of the educator, leader, thinker, who made me feel so proud I am at the same OISE AA work table. Fly well with God now!

I'm so very sad about our family loss. Like the energizer bunny wth your endless energy, I thought you would go on for a long long time. Never did I expect to say goodbye so soon. I will always be grateful for your support of and kindness to my mother. She thought the world of you. You are now and forever will be missed by me and many many more who's lives you positively impacted. You will never be far from my thoughts and memories. Rest peacefully.

I am very sad to hear of Carol's passing. She was such an accomplished woman whom I met through our association in the Liberal Party. We shared similar viewpoints and had great fun discussing our values and philosophies. Her presence and energy will be greatly missed.

A pleasure to have known you Carol for 18 years. Beginning with our passion as volunteers on riding executives at the Liberal Party of Canada. Later many other involvements. Time certainly flies. Thank you for becoming a close and dear friend and for your trust. We shared many happy times and made the best of some others. That's life. Your dear husband Jon and you were a most blessed team. May you rest in peace and be forever in everyone's thoughts, prayers and in the memory of all whose lives you've touched. My condolences to Carol's Jon, dear family and many friends. Thank you Carol for keeping in touch.
