Michael PIPA Obituary

PIPA, Michael Mike passed away peacefully, on December 30, 2020, at Mississauga Hospital after a brief bout with COVID-19 at the age of 93. A wonderful husband to Edith "Dee" (predeceased) for 65 years and devoted father of four, Mike was a well-loved high school teacher for over 30 years. He and Dee spent many happy summers in Europe, especially France where friends and family members always had an open invitation to join them. Kind-hearted, generous and ever the gentleman, Mike loved to keep active: from renovating houses and rebuilding cars to playing a great game of pool and golf. Family was everything to Mike and he was happiest when his wife and all of his daughters were with him. He will be forever missed by Daryl, Susan (Grant), Tamara (Paul), Alison (Jeff) and his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and interment will follow at a later date. We would like to give a special thank you to his caregivers Michelle and Eleshwa. Donations in Mike's memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society.

Mr. Pipa was my auto shop teacher at Downsview Secondary for three years I graduated in 1969. He had a major influence on me during that period as I was fairly rebellious. He was patient and always understanding. In later years I stayed in touch and was asked by him to speak to his auto students as I had become a successful Mechanic as well as Fixed Ops Manager. I am saddened that I did not maintain contact over the last few years and only now was thinking of him and wondering how he was doing. His family who I had never met were the luckiest ones to have spent their lives growing up with him. God bless you Mike. R.I.P.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of Mr Pipa. He was a true gentleman and fantastic auto shop teacher. He inspired me to go on to take the automotive program at Centennial College after high school.
Reflecting back to my time with him at school brings back so many happy memories and now has brought on tears.
Rest in peace Mr P.
