Bertha Kleinsasser Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 9 to Nov. 10, 2010.
Bertha Kleinsasser It is with sadness that the family of Bertha Kleinsasser of Langham announces her passing. Bertha was born the youngest daughter of Mike and Sara Waldner on the family farm, southeast of Langham, February 27, 1928. After completing her grade school education at the Neuhoffnung School, she furthered her education with the help of George Waldner by attending the Tabor Bible School in Dalmeny and then the Bethany Bible School in Hepburn. As a teen she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She had the desire to serve in the mission field in Haiti and in preparation of that worked in the offices of the Gospel Missionary Union (GMU) in Kansas City. Unfortunately, health problems brought her home to the farm where she worked with her parents and served in the local Emmanuel Church teaching Daily Vacation Bible School and Sunday school to young people in the area. On May 2nd, 1962, she married John Kleinsasser of Chaseley, North Dakota. They lived in many small towns in North Dakota and Montana following the work in the oil patch of the 1960s. During this time two sons, Ronald and Loren were born. In the spring of 1967 they all moved away from the transient life of the oil patch and settled down on the Sara Waldner farm of Langham and assumed its operation. In April of 1976, they all moved again to their own farm a mile east of where they were living. John and Bertha and family operated a mixed farm, with a Dairy, laying hens, turkeys and a grain operation. Bertha stayed on the farm up until John passed away in March of 2004 at which time she moved in to the Langham Senior Citizen Home where she resided up until her death. Bertha was no stranger to hard work. As a young person she fabricated many wood working projects on the farm. On the family aerial homestead picture she can be seen shingling the roof of the summer kitchen. She always enjoyed her gardens; she grew a large vegetable garden putting up many jars of cucumber pickles, tomatoes and jams. And there was always the large flower garden in front of the house. There were her laying hens and the two egg delivery routes that John and Bertha made each Friday. Bertha enjoyed her family and her friends. She spent many hours on the phone keeping in touch with the likes of Edna Waldner, Sarah Hofer and Selma Ratzlaff and well as many others. She enjoyed singing choruses with her grand-daughters and taking a lot of pictures of them in the many outfits she bought them. At Christmas time there were the many hours spent at the kitchen table writing cards and letters to many family and friends and the pails of Christmas dainties that were filled and put in the freezer. She enjoyed being part of the Emmanuel's Ladies fellowship and reading her bible. Bertha is predeceased by her parents, Mike and Sara Waldner of Langham; her husband, John Kleinsasser; by brothers, Jake M. Waldner, Saskatoon; Sam Waldner, Saskatoon; Paul Waldner, Langham; and Ben Waldner, Saskatoon; by sisters Annie Wurtz, Langham; and Mary Peters, Mission, B.C. She is survived by sons Ron and Julie Kleinsasser of Langham area; and Loren Kleinsasser of Langham and Ro Joyal of Bradwell; by granddaughters, Natasha and Becky; by sisters-in-law Ruth Pueppke of Erie, North Dakota; Lydia Wipf of Bismarck, North Dakota; brothers-in-law Sam Kleinsasser, Chaseley, North Dakota and Eli Kleinsasser of Portland, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews that remember her as Auntie Bert. The Kleinsasser family would like to thank the staff of the Langham Senior Citizens Home for wonderful care they provided while Bertha was a resident. Viewing will be held on Thursday November 11, 2010 6:00 P.M. at Dalmeny Funeral Home, Dalmeny, SK. Funeral Service will be on Friday November 12, 2010 2:00 P.M. at Emmanuel Church, Langham, SK with interment to follow at Emmanuel Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The Canadian Mental Health Association (Saskatoon Division) Inc., 1301 Ave. P North, Saskatoon, SK S7L 2X1. Bertha was the lady that led me to the Lord,at the age of 7 during VBS in Emmanuel Chruch. She also told me I could play piano because my older sisters could. She was such a vibrant loving christian woman, who now is enjoying the Lord she served. It was a priviledge to know her.

What wonderful memories, Bertha had confidence in me as a teenager to help with VBS in Emmanuel . She was always cheerful and full of Christ's love.I look forward to eternity when we can recall some of those great summers. Ev Anderson
