Very sad to hear of Bruce's passing. I was a student of his in 2005-2006 and he was a one of a kind professor. I spoke to him a couple months ago since we worked in the same building on Elgin street and even though he probably didn't remember me, he was still really happy to see me. My sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends.

I had the pleasure of being one of Bruce's students in 2005. He was a wonderful and engaging professor, and a great person. He genuinely took an interest - he gave thoughtful feedback, and always made an effort to say hello and converse when I would see him outside of class. My deepest sympathies for his family. He will be missed.

We were so very saddened to hear the news. Bruce was so kind and steady when my mother Jane was ill and sorted her affairs rather brilliantly I'll also remember him as being unexpectedly and extremely funny we laughed so much one night we almost cried. I was glad to reconnect with him and I will miss him.

My greatest sympathies to Sally and his beloved girls.

The Edwards cousins will definitely be raising our glasses to Bruce.

I was a student of Professor Bruce La Rochelle back in 1999-2000. He was the advisor in my graduation thesis. He did not only instruct me with his incredible knowledge but also shared his faithful thoughts, deepest love of his two daughters and passions of his career and knowledge. He encouraged me to pursue further in academic career, even had university fund ready to support my travel cost to present my paper at academic conventions. I learned from him in many ways, academic, faith and wisdom.

I am so sorry with my deepest sympathies to your family.

A beautiful soul is never forgotten... R.I.P., Professor Bruce.

Such a shock to hear of Bruce's death. I talked on the phone with him just last fall, and he sounded fine. He always encouraged his friends, but was not shy to voice his opinion of choices made. His life was torn across by the mighty revving of his brain. Indefatigable?? First met in Grade 9 at Ridgemont High, and we kept tabs throughout life. He tried to be most protective and parental to his girls from the updates and reports of their growing lives as he "checked in" with me every few years. Most respectful of Sally. Oh, he has left a hole in my heart.
