Doug's memorial ride in Keremeos, B.C. August 4th was awesome. The support for his family and friends was incredible. Tina rode on a beautiful white Harley and Dakota right beside her on a beautiful Black Classic at the front of the pack. The smiles on their faces said it all. You were right there with us Dougy all the way! Miss ya lots and Thanks for loving us all unconditionally.

So sorry to hear of an old friend from years ago passing, (Pre 'Mother' days.) Before being saved, I jived with Garnet at the 'Stinkin' Lincoln' & took photos at his first wedding. Both of us were eventually saved. Me in 1971 & I don't know the date for Garnet. He now resides with his Lord & Saviour. Praise God for His saving grace.

I met Garnet in the late 60's when my friends & I went to the Castle. We were Americans but loved the Modbeats. We used to visit his house in St. Catherines. He was always good to us. Good memories. I wanted to tell him I am a believer. Until we meet again.

My harley was the first one that "Doug S" rode since losing his leg. This was in Airdrie, AB, while he was speaking prior to going to the 50th Sturgis meet. He brought me back a T shirt. Loved the big dude. Art. Calgary, AB

I'm sorry to hear of Doug's passing I was first over whelmed when meeting him and didn't believe his story I didn't believe anyone could change that much this is probable because we judge others by ourselves and how we think we would act under the same circumstances. Over time I've learned we all can change> I feel i'm a better person today for the help Doug gave me and I look forward to seeing him again when this life is over. love Ken Ireland

I first met Garnet at St. Nicholas school, around the time of grade 4. We shared many hilarious times and escapades with him with The Modbeats. The fondest memory I have of him is the time when he was with Satan's Choice and stopped traffic on St. Paul St. to escort my mother across the road. I will always remember him.
March 1, 2012
Garnet always looked out for all of us during the Modbeat years even though sometimes I felt that he should have let me be more daring.
Loved the man for caring so much and for making sure we were safe,

My deepest sympathy. Garnet, Fraser Loveman and I were good friends. He was the roadie for the Modbeats and he taught me to do a liquid light show for the band for which I will forever be grateful. He was a kind man with a great sense of humour and everyone who knew him will miss him.

I haven't seen Garnet since those days back in St.Catharines, when he had his shop where I used to work a bit. I always remember his fantastic liquid light shows. We are in that photo that Don posted of the shop. Garnet gifted my girlfriend and I tickets to go see Donovan in concert in Toronto. I always remembered his kindness and how much fun it was way back then. Blessings on your journey Garnet and condolences to your family.

So sad to hear, he lived around the corner from me when we were kids and was always a friend. I had been looking for Garnet for the past year to share some photos from back in the 60's. Here is one of the photos from his shop 1968-69, the guy in the striped shirt is the middle is Neil Peart, before he joined Rush. I always knew Garnet to take care of those that needed help and am glad to had known him, too bad we couldn't connect again.
