Ivy McFadyen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 24, 2006.
Ivy Genevieve (Toots) McFadyen (nee Peterson) 1913 2006 The family of Toots McFadyen sadly announce the passing of their mother on July 21, 2006 at Porteous Lodge in Saskatoon. She was born on April 25, 1913 in the Thunder Creek District in southern Saskatchewan. Predeceased by her husband George, parents Frank and Anna Peterson and brothers and sisters, she is survived by her children Bob (Donna), Jo Anne (Bob), Jim and Mary Sue (Jean-Luc). Also surviving are her grandchildren Allison (Mark), James, Peter (Snezana), Greg (Gareth), Julien and Antoine, as well as her great grandchildren Mila and Dylan. Toots received her education from the Lutheran Collegiate Bible Institute in Outlook, her Teaching Certification at Normal School in Moose Jaw, and taught school prior to her marriage to George. They lived in Watrous for several years where George was manager of the CBC Radio Station, later transferring to Regina where she lived until moving to Saskatoon in 2000. Her optimistic outlook gave encouragement to family and friends and her happy, cheerful personality was a shining light for all. She was a life long member of the Lutheran Church and was a dedicated worker throughout the years. We want to thank all who cared for Mom these past years. Jan, Judy, staff at City Hospital, the staff at Porteous Lodge and her niece Marlene. In lieu of flowers those so wishing may make a donation to the charity of their choice. Cremation will take place and a memorial service to commemorate Mom's life will be held at a later date. Email condolences may be sent to [email protected]. Arrangements have been entrusted to SASKATOON FUNERAL HOME.
