It is with heavy hearts that we announce Morris passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 23, 2015. Morris is survived by his wife of 44 years, Darlene (nee Krawchuk) and their three daughters and grandchildren, Koren Hebig (Donavan) and their children, Dylan and Kierra; Sherry Zabinsky (Jason) and their children, Owen, Colton and Natalia; Carla Phipps (Bryce) and their children, Tyler and Carson; his mother, Katherine Parchewski; and brother-in-law, Ron Mykyte (Kathy and Kevin). Morris was predeceased by his father, William Parchewski and sister, Natalie Mykyte. Morris loved life and always greeted everyone with a smile. He valued the importance of family and close friends. He faced the last few months with courage, determination and strength. Morris was grateful to everyone who helped him through this difficult time. His love for his family will be his legacy. Morris will be missed by all, especially his family and lifelong friends. Morris was born in Hafford, SK on September 26, 1948. He grew up in the Tallman and Blaine Lake area, attending school in Blaine Lake. In 1971, he married Darlene, and together they had three daughters. Morris loved spending time with his family. He was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather who put family first. Over the years, he was active in all of his daughters' activities. Only after his lawn was mowed and trimmed to perfection, and his vehicles were spotless, he could be found golfing, at the lake fishing and camping with family and friends. As Morris' seven grandchildren grew, he enjoying spending countless hours with them and attending all their activities. He was always around to lend a helping hand or fix things. Many days were spent volunteering, especially within the Ukrainian community. Morris spent most of his career in the lumber industry, including Weldwood, owning his own business, Wood City - Sutherland Branch, and finally with Taiga Building Products until his retirement. Morris and Darlene enjoyed spending their time vacationing together in Palm Springs and Maui. In the final months, Morris and Darlene found comfort in spending time together going for walks, sitting on a park bench, enjoying life and being grateful for the extra time they had been given together. We would like to thank ICU, and the 6300 Unit at RUH, as well as City Hospital Rehab for Morris' care. Our immense gratitude to Dr. Michael Kelly, and his team in the neurology department for their dedication, kindness and compassion. A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 7:00 p.m., and Funeral Service on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of All Saints, 2616 Louise Street, with Very Rev. Archpriest Peter Wasylenko and Very Rev. Fr. Bohdan Demczuk officiating. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, we please ask that donations in Morris' memory be directed to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada or a children's charity of choice.
