Peter Checkowski

PETER CHECKOWSKI May 13th, 1923 May 27th, 2005 Peter passed away peacefully at home after a lengthy illness. He is dearly loved and remembered by his daughter, Holly (Scott) Santha of rural Saskatoon; his six grandchildren, Jalene, Jordan and Justin Santha; Sheldon, Christon and Jonathon Duda; his two sisters, Sophie (Peter) Grebinski and Mary Zakreski; his two brothers, Mike (Grace) Chekowski and Nick (Doreen) Chickowski; also numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceasd by his wife, Mardell; his daughter, Darlene (Mike) Duda; and his brother-inlaw, Albert Zakreski. Peter was born and raised on a farm in Ituna, SK. He and his siblings loved to play music and Peter became a talented musician. He loved the outdoors, spending time hunting, fishing and trapping. Peter had various jobs as a gifted handyman and his strengths were in flooring, framing, and just about anything. We'll miss you Dad and Grandpa. The Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, June 1st at 1:00 p.m. from Woodlawn Cemetery (please meet at the front gate at 12:50 p.m.). A reception will follow at the Pensioner and Pioneers Pavilion (606 Spadina Cres. West) from 2:00 4:00 p.m. Memorials would be appreciated if directed to the Canadian Cancer Society (438-2nd Avenue North, Saskatoon, S7K 2C3).
