Rose Belfour Memoriam

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix on Jul. 28, 2012.
In Memory of
Rose Marie Belfour
December 8, 1940 - July 28, 1982
A man standing by a bridge on an old winding dirt road deep in a valley cascading with hills.
He sees a beaver splash in a creek and a blue heron take flight.
The man becomes mesmerized by the breathtaking beauty that surrounds him
He used to come here often as a child sometimes with his parents or his grandparents.
Today he comes alone to recapture some youth, some memories and the peace and tranquillity this special place has to offer.
He fondly begins to remember his mother.
Mother never seemed to miss the finer things in life.
She never wanted to be more than just a mother and a wife.
The only thing that was important was to make our house a home and to make us happy.
Mother never seemed to want more than what she had to make her happy.
Mother was a very unselfish person quite often doing without herself to give to us.
My greatest sadness Mom is that you never met my son.
And that you never met my wife and that you were not at our wedding and that you are unable to see our farm, our herd of horses, cows, sheep and goats. I know you'd love the horses most because most of them are greys.
I wish you could have met Dave and Pat Miller. They helped make a dream come true.
The thing I miss about you most is the gentle touch of your hand when you would stroke my head when I was sick.
It's been 30 years since that horrible day when we were told you passed away.
I was 19 years old. I'm now 49. I was a crippled bird back then, but today I'm soaring like an eagle.
I know you'd love my wife, my son and my farm.
I'd love to thank you for my life, for the great cooking ability and all the great recipes.
Thanks Mom - Love You
Love your son, Cameron Alan Belfour
