William Trischuk Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 3, 2009.
William John Trischuk August 25, 1919 June 30, 2009 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of husband, father, brother, and dido `Bill' at the age of 89 years. William `Bill', the youngest son of John and Anne Trischuk was born in the Cudworth area, where he received his education while growing up and working on the family farm. In 1941, he enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces. Bill was united in marriage to Anne Tabashniuk in 1943 and as part of his service years they resided in Vancouver, Regina and Shilo. In 1945, upon completion of his service with the forces, Bill and Anne returned to farm on the original homestead of his parents. In 1955, they moved to Cudworth, and Bill continued active farming until the early 1970's, during which time Bill also worked along side his father-in-law, Wasyl Tabashniuk (a skilled carpenter) building houses in the community. Bill also drove school bus and was a favourite of the students because of his joviality and friendliness. After farming Bill was employed at Doug Frie's chicken ranch until his retirement in 1985. Bill and Anne were involved in the Ukrainian Orthodox Church community devoting many years to the affairs of the church and its affilitate groups. Bill also became an active member of the Cudworth Lions Club and in his retirement years spent countless hours enjoying the company of his friends playing cards at the senior's recreational center and going for coffee. As far as we are aware, Dad never lost any of his card games! Music was always an important part of his life. Bill, like his father John, was gifted musically, demonstrated by his ability to pick up numerous instruments and play by ear, including accordion, violin and guitar. One of his duties in the forces included being the military bugler. Family, and in particular, devotion to his childrens' various activities (which included hockey, curling, ball, Ukrainian dancing), always took precedence over other functions. In later years, Bill could be found at rinks and ball diamonds cheering on his grandchildren. Upon his wife Anne's passing in 1984, Bill remarried in 1986, to Patricia Kozak of Meacham. Together they traveled, enjoyed senior activities and continued to nurture their extended family. Leaving Cudworth in 2008, Bill and Pat resided at the Ilarion Residence in Saskatoon until his passing. Predeceased by his parents, John and Anne; his first wife, Anne; his brothers, Peter, Nick, Steve, and Leo; his sisters, Pearl Hryciuk, Dora Bakowy, and Mary Chopiuk; Patricia's son, Myron. Bill leaves to remember him with love, his wife, Patricia; his children, Ron (Felicity) and their children, Mark and Audrey; son, Gordon (Adele) and their children, Russell (Tammy) great-grandchildren, Ben and Owen and Larissa Gader (Garet); son, Dr. Bernie (MaryAnn) and their children, Greg, Devan, Taisa and Lucia; daughter, Zoria Lieffers (Dan) and their children, Kreig, Cianna, and Kris; son, Rick (Yulia) and grandson Alexey. Also sisters, Ann Tkach (Vancouver) and Nettie Burechailo (Guelph); numerous nieces and nephews; and Patricia's children and their families, Donna Savage (Malcolm) children, Mark and David; Darcy Hogan (Terry) children, Sarah Cooke) Ted), Angie Jansen (Shuyler), Eric (Tara); Patty Bindle (Glen) daughter, Emily; Cathy Noble (Wes) daughters Jillian and Megan; and son, Lynn (Jaquie) and children, Michael and Katie. Bill's life was characterized by hard work, a generous spirit and unfaltering commitment to his family and church. Prayer Service for Bill will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 919 20th Street West, Saskatoon, SK. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 6, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of The Holy Trinity in Cudworth, SK. Officiating will be Very Rev. Fr. Taras Makowsky and Rev. Fr. Roman Kocur. Interment will take place in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery in Cudworth, SK. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either Mohyla Institute in Saskatoon, Ilarion Seniors Residence (please specify the Assisted Living section) in Saskatoon, the Kidney Foundation of Canada, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, or the charity/cause of choice. To the Trischuk family; Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss. We have fond memories of Bill who was so personable. He was dedicated to the Church as an elder and contributed to the Church in very spiritual and in practical ways. May God Bless you at this time, and may Bill have eternal peace. Vichnaya Pamyat!

Auntie Pat & family, We are so sorry to hear of your loss. May you find peace and comfort in the days ahead.

TREASURE
EACH MOMENT
Never Again
will this day be yours
With its promise
and its hope,
Never again
will its joys
and dreams
All be within
your scope.
So treasure each hour,
for never again
Will you be able to see
Exactly these same
golden moments,
Except in memory.

To the Trischuk Family
Our prayers and thoughts are with you all at this time of sorrow. We will remember Bill fondly for his hearty laugh, his sense of humor and his ways of teasing. Whenever we'd meet him on the street, he always had a smile on his face and something to say. May he rest in peace.
