HAL SHOCKEY Obituary

Published by Saskatoon StarPhoenix on Oct. 5, 2013.
HAL SHOCKEY
Hal, age 86, passed away October 1st, 2013. Hal once said, the best decision he ever made was marrying his wife Lil. He loved his family being the oldest of eight, he always set a good example for his siblings, Glen, Norma, Vern, Eleanor, Clifford, Gerald (predeceased) and Shirley. Hal built roads all over Saskatchewan. He was a dedicated employee to Evans Construction and Corman Park municipality, but his passion was aviation and hunting. After he retired, his son, Jim included Hal on the television show "Jim Shockey's Hunting Adventures", where Hal achieved celebrity status. He was a really good father to his children, Jim, Geraldine and Barbara. As a grandfather he was enjoyed by Branlin, Tony, Eva, Jamie and Thomas. Everyone loved and respected Hal, his wife, siblings, children, grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He will be greatly missed.

The entire Shockey family,
I'd like to say thank you for sharing Hal with all of us. He and Leonard's adventures always brought a smile to my face and reminded me so much of my father Bill Sr. and his buddy Lee's antics. Watching Hal's final hunt with Jim and Eva struck a deep chord and and is by far the very best show I've ever seen. God bless all of you and thanks again for sharing this wonderful man.

Jim and Louise:
I just watched the episode last night and didn't realize you had lost your father - my heart goes out to both of you for your losses in the past year. I had tears in my eyes watching you, your daughter and your Dad on that hunt as it reminded me so much of my father who passed away 20 years ago. You were very fortunate having both of them in your life, and it was obvious how much you enjoyed Len and Hal on the hunts. Having your family and "old timers" on the show just takes it to another level. Take Care

Hal was the best of the Shockey family and his son was not far behind him. Wonderful 'real' human beings both of them.

So glad young Jim followed my advice and is still married to the same wonderful women he fell in love with.

My prayers go out to you all.
