I was a frequent visitor of his hot dog stand that he had set up in the Village during college. The line to get a hot dog would be almost 2 hours at times. He usually told jokes when I got up to the front of the line. He always called me Ms. Legg and was a super nice guy. He will be missed. Hugs to his family during this difficult time.

Molly and Family, I'm so sorry to read of your dad and loved one's passing. He was a wonderful, well liked man. I didn't know him, but I'm Braydon's grandmother, I've met you, I know you are friends. Prayers and sympathy. R.I.P. Mark

Mr. Carter, words can not express what an amazing man you were. You were so very giving; of your time, of yourself. Your memory was an amazing one, didn't matter who was in your line, you knew their order often times before they did. You remembered names, personal tidbits, and faces. The last time I went to Muncie on a whim because I wanted a Carter Dog, I hadn't seen you in at least five years. You greeted me by name, started making my order before I even said anything (of course it was right), asked about some family stuff I had mention the last time we spoke, and gave me a parting hug with a genuine, "It was good to see you" thrown in. Your passing makes this world a little more dark, but the people you touched are better for knowing you. Thank you for everything, Hot Dog Man. ♡

I was a Ball State student in the 90s, and worked in the Village at The Chug for many of those years. Mark was always our last stop after closing up the bar. He always stayed open until we could get there. I have so many wonderful memories of those years at BSU, and Mark and his hot dog stand were definitely part of that college experience. He was a great guywitty and kind. I'm heartbroken for his family, and saddened for all my fellow cardinals. He will be missed.

As a 2006 graduate of BSU I am deeply saddened by his passing. He will be truly missed! Many nights I spent standing in his line waiting for the BEST hot dogs ever. He laughed with us and sometimes I'm sure at us. Always so kind and friendly. My thoughts and prayers are with his family in this tough time.

I will miss you so much, Carter. You were such a nice guy to everyone who knew you (and that was a lot). I will miss you calling me Ms. Legg and telling me jokes as you passed me my red, yellow and smelly hot dog. I'm glad I got to know you a little bit on a personal level and will never forget calling you during phone banks and you recognizing my voice. You will never be forgotten. RIP
