Rev. Jerry VanNatter

Gaston - Rev. Jerry VanNatter, 76, was reunited in Heaven Sunday, September 9, 2018, with his wife, Elizabeth on their 56th wedding anniversary.

He was born on December 11, 1941 in Muncie the son of Harvey and Edna (Curtis) VanNatter. He graduated from Gaston High School in 1960, where he excelled in basketball and was the class president.

Jerry was a buyer for VAL's Department Store, owned and operated Sonshine Sales, worked for Masters Distributors, Jaydon Distributors, and later became an ordained minister with the Church of the Nazarene on June 9, 2005.

He was a member for over fifty years of North Walnut Church of the Nazarene which became Northside Church of the Nazarene. Jerry was the pastor for twenty years between the two churches. He had hiked the Grand Canyon and the Appalachian Trail. He was an avid reader, photographer, loved the outdoors, had a passion for missions in Haiti, and supported the CSI Ministries.

Surviving are three children, Laura Munger (husband, Jeff), Eaton, Angela Daugherty (husband, Jim), Springfield, IL, and Jon VanNatter (wife, Valla-Dia), Muncie; four grandsons, Jade Blevins (wife, Kayley), Coleman Daugherty (fiancée, Heather), Matthew Daugherty, and Brandon Daugherty; two sisters, Diana Glaze, Crestwood, KY and Linda Swope (husband, Mike), Avon; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife Elizabeth in 2002.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September, 14, 2018, at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton.

Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday or one hour prior to services on Friday.
