Ronald William & Yong Suk Baumann
May 10, 2021 - April 29, 2021
Columbia, South Carolina - Ronald William Baumann, 79, passed away on Monday, May 10, 2021. He was the son of Rudolph and Marie Baumann of West Orange, NJ. Yong Suk Baumann, 80, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021. She was the daughter of Pakun Hi and Yong Din of South Korea.
Ronald and Yong Suk were married for 55 years. They are survived by their son, Rudolph Baumann and granddaughter, Jordan Baumann of Columbia, SC. Ronald and Yong Suk are sadly missed will be forever remembered by family and friends.
Ronald was a 20-year retired United States Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. During his time in the military, he was stationed in South Korea, West Germany, Hawaii, and various bases within the United States. Ronald spent most of his career in West Germany. While there, they loved traveling and exploring small towns, often participating in local volksmarches (organized walking events of 5 /10 km through the local country side). Their favorite assignment was Schofield Barracks, Oahu, Hawaii. Traveling often required long road trips that took much longer, as Ronald did not believe in using maps. They would eventually reach the correct destination after much trial and error, as well as the asking of directions upon the urging of his wife. Ronald loved to listen to music and was a life-long modeler.
Yong Suk was a devoted wife and mother who loved to cook and engage in various arts and crafts. She was also the strength of the family. They both loved their family and often made sacrifices to ensure family was taken care of first. They both especially loved their granddaughter, Jordan.
